From Zero to Build-Ready: How We Automated Project Setup with Autodesk Forma Templates

One click of “Create Project” in Autodesk Forma, and, like magic, folders auto-populate, design workflows activate, and dashboards light up—all before you can even finish brewing your coffee. Join us to unpack how our virtual design and construction (VDC) and design teams built an Autodesk Forma template that cuts setup from weeks to hours. Learn how we preconfigured Modeling rules (clash detection on the cloud!), embedded structured folders, and auto-populated Assets settings. We’ll demo how designers now sync Revit models to Autodesk Forma sheets with one click, while on-site teams track steel installations via prebuilt Assets dashboards with no Python PhD required. “This way, teams can focus on the important aspects of designing,” says our lead design manager. Workflow Upgrade: Transitioning to Model Coordination

This session will cover the "bare bones” setup of a Forma Data Management central file-sharing site with granular permissions for use by a construction team during building information modeling (BIM) coordination. A builder's construction technology manager will demonstrate how Autodesk Collaborate supported by Autodesk add-ins can be used as a shared on-demand syncing tool for teams that still favor Navisworks Manage to run clash detection between a diverse mix of trade partners working both in and out of the cloud. Autodesk technical experts will provide supplementary advice along the way to show how teams can make use of new features in the Autodesk Forma environment to take this strategy to the next level by removing roadblocks seen in previous versions of the product.

Coordinated Rebar Detailing in a Multi-Trade Environment

When rebar detailing is performed independently, it often results in costly conflicts and rework. In this session, we will examine a couple of reinforced concrete projects where our team was responsible for both rebar detailing and 3D coordination with other trades using Revit, Autodesk Forma, and Navisworks software. We’ll discuss how early involvement, shared modeling with trade partners, and continuous coordination enabled us to detect clashes, streamline installation processes, and minimize field delays. Additionally, we’ll explore how Revit facilitated model data management, effective communication, and the use of new rebar tools to enhance detailing accuracy and efficiency.

How to Easily Data Mine Revit, Forma Design Collaboration, and Autodesk Forma for Your Benefits

As we work through projects, there’s a constant generation of information. Unfortunately, we almost never get to see it, much less capture and analyze it, thereby missing many opportunities to inform future projects or help with current ones. Buro Happold is a global engineering firm that's decided to tackle this problem at an enterprise level by finding ways to automatically collect, share, and analyze this constant stream of project information. We've taken a multifaceted approach to mining project data for insights by using a mixture of internally developed tools, Revit software, Forma Design Collaboration, Autodesk Forma, and external tools like Microsoft Power BI and Kinship. This class will cover the methods and strategies that we’re using to mine all the data generated daily by each project. We'll look at how the firm is using the internal BIM Radar tool with mixture of external tools. How Forma Design Collaboration Boosted Our Success During a Global Pandemic

Many ongoing projects were affected during the pandemic, requiring changes to our design teams’ traditional workflows. Keeping all teams connected and motivated while social distancing has been an enormous challenge for our industry. Autodesk Forma has evolved to provide the greatest efficiency for cloud collaboration and team integration. In this class, attendees will learn how to use Revit Cloud Worksharing applying a standardized workflow that’s easy to understand and effective for fast-track projects, including project creation, worksharing process, and publish settings. With this workflow, we’ve been able to reduce communication lags, avoid local server failures, and optimize the sync process of our models by up to 50% compared to the traditional local server workflow.

Why This Kenya-Based Design and Build Firm Moved to Revit

BuildX Studio designs and builds spaces that promote dignity, health, and environmental comfort in Kenya. Time and cost efficiency are key to keeping up with the pace of rapid development in the region. With the introduction of Revit software, the industry has experienced a digital revolution allowing for multidisciplinary worksharing through central models hosted on an individual firm’s local access networks or through Forma Design Collaboration software. Recently, BuildX conducted a survey to determine whether it should migrate its entire design team from AutoCAD software into Revit. We used two projects for comparison. Through a short time-lapse video, you’ll see firsthand the two-times more efficient process with Revit. A housing project in AutoCAD took 3,115 hours, while a similar project in Revit took just 1,478 hours. Change Won't Happen If We Wait For Someone Else, So Let's Make The Digital Twin Future A Reality, TOGETHER!

Hazen has a strong vision for digital twin technology in the Water industry and we have multiple projects and clients where we are pushing this narrative. From HRSD SWIFT Research Facility with Revit and GeoBIM integration, to Aurora Water BIM-based digital twin project using Autodesk Tandem, and several other large greenfield projects where Hazen is using ACC Design, Build, and Operate solutions. We focus heavily on asset management and operational user cases with high impact and credible visuals, client feedback, and clear values. This also includes our virtual digital twin in Tandem that uses Postman to stream SCADA-type data to Tandem Connect and Tandem Streams to show the future of Tandem, and Info360 Plant for process modeling and analysis for a new greenfield project integrated with Tandem and all things ACC. We will tell the story of why Hazen is putting our name out there for these Autodesk tools and demonstrate why we feel they are important to the future of protecting water.
