In this session, we expand on the case study presented in the lecture, diving deeper into the discussion and examples from the speakers and attendees on what the implementation process will be like and sharing potential ways to accelerate the process. We also explore industry examples on how to improve cross-functional teamwork and global collaboration, as well as process and data optimization with innovative implementation use cases. In this class, we will go through what happens after the BIM project has been completed and handed over to the client. What happens to the models that the consultants and/or contractors have spent months/years creating and what part of the information in the models is actually used by the facilities or asset management teams. Why is it key that the native format (i.e., Revit) is delivered.

For the equipment manufacturer of OLED production, the following are included in the key scope of the project: product portfolio management, CAD data management, change management (engineering change request, engineering change order), BOM management, and new product introduction for the equipment of OLED.

It is estimated that 80% of the environmental impact is determined at the design phase. However, many designers lack the tools to assess the impact of their design choices. In addition, an increasing number of companies are setting up ambitious sustainability goals, but the data required to drive the actions are often in disparate systems throughout the organization, or kept in PLM (product lifecycle management) and PDM (product data management) systems, which means that designs are already locked up. Autodesk and Makersite collaborated to bring sustainability insights into early product-design phases by connecting relevant lifecycle assessment data to the Autodesk Fusion 360 Design workspace. We’ve created a more holistic workflow to provide even more insights into sustainable design, directly within the design environment. The analysis can also recommend material alternatives and provide costing information to help designers make more-sustainable decisions, faster, with greater impact.

In this session, we’ll explore how using best practices, standardized designs, and BIM (Building Information Modeling) technologies can move modular design and manufacturing to the point where automation makes sense. We’ll also cover how we’ve been able to overcome the disconnect between traditional architecture and manufacturing. Learn how we’ve used Revit software, StrucSoft Solutions, Navisworks software, and virtual reality (VR) to increase our ability to move beyond physical prototyping for design lock, and how it greatly improves the manufacturing outcome.

How can we coordinate people around the world in a project of 3,250,655 cubic meters, divided into more than 400 multidisciplinary Revit models? This class will show how 3D coordination is possible in an effective way using Collaboration for Revit and BIM 360 Team. The Red Line North Underground project in Doha, Qatar, was started with the use of many different local systems (Revit servers) and a central storage useful for exchanging models and information. The adoption of the BIM 360 platform let us optimize the workflows, saving time and money. With the integrated cooperation and collaboration made possible by the platform, efficiency was maximized, therefore providing a solid base for the decision-making process. Thanks to BIM 360 software, all members of the team could share information and collaborate, regardless of where they were physically located, capitalizing on the contributions, skills, and intuitions of all team members in a smooth and simple way.
