It's a given that your Revit template should be oriented to your company standards and workflows. But wouldn't it be great if your Revit template could also guide project staff in their daily tasks, and provide some model checks and model management workflows? We'll share our goals and methods, what should be in the template, and what and how to store outside. We'll explore the process of cyclical template rebuild in a small or large multistudio company. We'll demonstrate creative use of colors and patterns with view filters to produce accurate documentation and QA model checks. We'll dive into practicalities of clean rebuild, tools, and workflows. We'll discuss commercially available tools, and share our in-house scripts and code. We'll speak from more than 12 years of experience improving Revit templates and their practical implementations multiplied by many experts who worked on our templates during that time.

Railway systems have complex rules to follow during the design phase, and their automation is highly required due to the massive and systematic work that needs to be done, and the very detailed list of materials necessary. The catenary system is one of the most complex systems in railway. Using Civil 3D, Revit, and Dynamo software, we can automate the design process and create the best workflow—which we'll demonstrate in this session, including complex parametric families, and automatic section views for each mast with dimensions. We'll also demonstrate some other systems' design automation, like CCTV and the automatic creation of camera field-of-vision 3D views for the train driver and metro station platform cameras to achieve the best installation criteria and avoid rework during construction phase. Plus, we'll explore how to convert all of these scripts to plug-in buttons with pyRevit.

In this technical session, we'll go through the entire corridor workflow using the new corridor interface. Here we'll look at creating a corridor with multiple baselines (alignments and feature lines). We'll also add corridor transitions to the model and review best practices. We'll also incorporate several custom subassemblies into the model. This will be an in-depth look at ways these new tools can improve our corridor model.

This session will provide hands-on instruction in the use of the Grading Optimization extension in Civil 3D software. We'll explore the product features and put the software to use on a commercial/retail development project. The instruction will use many of the included grading objects (i.e., building pads, curbs, drain lines, ponds, and more) to quickly develop a proposed surface, and import the results back to Civil 3D.

Revit 2023 software has completely overhauled the analytical modeling workflow. Now the physical and analytical models have the freedom to act independently. The analytical model elements must be created separately from the physical structure; however, you can still "link" them together. This ultimately gives better control over the analytical model and what it is allowed to represent. These changes are drastic, but don't worry. We're here to help explain how it all works, and have you give it a try in this hands-on lab. You don't need to be a structural engineer or a Revit structural modeler, because we'll show you how you could use the Revit analytical elements to help in the creation of physical walls, physical beams, and many other fun creations. In this lab, we'll also show you how to create your own workflows using Dynamo to customize the automation of the creation of the analytical elements.
