The Innovative Construction Solutions (ICS) Team at Skanska USA Building recently implemented BIM 360 Ops software for one of Skanska's commercial development clients to facility manage a newly constructed luxury condominium residential tower in Boston, Massachusetts. This particular client also requested model visualization to complement the mobile-first work order management capabilities of BIM 360 Ops, and required that the ICS Team partner with Autodesk to develop an API integration between BIM 360 Ops and its existing tenant concierge software platform. In this class, ICS Team members who worked on this project will share the lessons they learned and the workflow they developed using Revit software, Navisworks software, BIM 360 Glue software, BIM 360 Field software, and BIM 360 Ops.

This class will cover 2 separate workflows uploading data to BIM 360 Ops software. Attendees will get an in-depth look at the process UCHealth employed to upload data to BIM 360 Ops directly from Revit software for the Greeley hospital project, and through BIM 360 Glue software and BIM 360 Field software for the Highlands Ranch Hospital project. As the title of this session indicates, we will share lessons learned. Attendees will get an overview of the team structure and data flow, as well as a deeper dive into how to overcome the challenges the UCHealth team encountered, such as parameter concatenation, data revision, and uploading of information changes. This course will be a combination of Microsoft PowerPoint and live demonstration, and will include Revit, BIM 360 Ops, Dynamo, BIM 360 Glue, and BIM 360 Field.

This discussion will focus on CREFTS' (Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety, & Security) BIM 360 Ops internal Autodesk deployment, and offer a glimpse from concept to deployment across the Autodesk portfolio. We'll review the steps taken-from planning, pilot, and deployment-and discuss our pathway to success and how we're using BIM 360 Ops software from projects to building operations. We'll share best practices, insight into rollout, and a glimpse of where we're heading with automation and machine learning.

In 2016, Fayetteville, AR, began planning a 70,000-square-foot expansion to their existing library. The project adds innovative, community-focused spaces where patrons can develop photography, experience VR, and host large-scale events. One challenge identified by the owner was how to manage the equipment in both the new addition and the existing building. The facilities team decided to use BIM 360 Ops software as their computerized maintenance management system and engaged a consultant to streamline the data-import process. This class will explain the process and key considerations for successful integration of BIM 360 Ops for existing and new construction. The team worked together to establish the asset list to ensure streamlined import of data from the facility’s existing documentation and the expansion’s design and construction data. The completed project brings the library’s asset information into one place, enabling staff to effectively operate and maintain the expanded building.

We will also explore creating links to model elements to the physical site, and we’ll review layout automation, data and information linking, and site access.

This class will showcase what is possible when linking information from building automation systems with BIM 360 Ops software to automate building events. We will demonstrate how Autodesk's CREFTS (Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety, and Security) Team has linked systems to trigger tickets within BIM 360 Ops, providing quick notification to facilities operators of system events within their facility, resulting in proactive management of building events.

With a campus in rural Rwanda—more than 100 kilometers from the capital Kigali, half of which is unpaved road—the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) always planned to deploy BIM 360 Ops software to support and sustain facility maintenance functions. A pioneering global health science university, UGHE had proactive facilities maintenance as a top priority when opening their campus in January 2019. In April 2020, our team helped to facilitate the launch of BIM 360 Ops during COVID-19. Working remotely with UGHE’s facilities maintenance team, Skanska uploaded information to support the computerized maintenance management system. Using BIM 360 Ops, UGHE’s staff and outsourced service contractors share maintenance information across the 350,000-square-foot campus for an integrated facilities maintenance system. Attendees will learn best practices for asset and space naming, traditional and alternative strategies for managing preventative maintenance, and ways in which to virtually deploy BIM 360 Ops during COVID-19.

Autodesk’s CREFTS (Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety, and Security) Project Team set out to deliver an all-electronic project handoff supplying the Facilities Operations Team with timely and specific information that they’d requested at project closeout. This class will describe the early steps taken during team engagement and development of the BIM execution plan to map a successful path to bring assets designed and developed in the model into BIM 360 Ops software in a useful way for the Facilities Operations Team. We will outline the steps taken, obstacles that were encountered, and how the project outcome helped shape a BIM 360 Ops project guidance document for future projects.

In this technical session, we will demonstrate how the BIM 360 Ops Indoor Maps Revit add-in can make it easy for organizations to add indoor maps to BIM 360 Ops for indoor positioning. This session will go into detail about the Apple Indoor Mapping Data Format (IMDF) program and how Autodesk’s building operations product, BIM 360 Ops, integrates with it. Detailed indoor maps can significantly improve facility management and operations, while delivering fantastic user experiences inside buildings and facilities.

The presentation will look at how certain data doesn’t flow across the platforms, and we’ll demonstrate alternative work-arounds you can undertake to overcome this. The presentation will look at how to set up your Revit project with the mindset that the models will be used on iPads in BIM 360 Field software, and then we’ll look at how the data will transfer across into the Building Ops application. We will also address which application the data is generated in and we’ll look at examples of who populates this information. We will explore the differences in the Building Ops model viewing appearance, and the considerations that you may want to make when setting up the model at the start of the project with BIM 360 Glue software, BIM 360 Field software, and Building Ops software in mind.
