This presentation will show how US-based structural engineers who already create their design models and drawings with Revit software can use this same software to create shops drawings from their fabrication models for rebar, precast, and structural steel, and also create concrete lift drawings. When switching to Revit MEP Fabrication Parts, one of the first hurdles you need to cross is understanding how to get services and service templates configured in Fabrication software. Knowing how to navigate the services in Fabrication is key. You’ll be surprised by what little customization is required to get a basic service to function correctly in Revit software. Many of the settings that Fabrication CADmep software and Fabrication ESTmep software require are not necessarily required when using these services in Revit. We’ll cover how to deal with issues of connectivity and routing while in Revit and what changes to the database will improve routing and product selection. At the end of the class, you’ll be able to take full advantage of the design-to-fabrication feature in Revit to convert engineers’ design models and reduce coordination time needed to fabricate.

Everything you need to know about BIM and firestop within a large project. How to design, coordinate and maintain firestop locations. This case study will showcase Hilti’s BIM Services at the PennFIRST Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. We partnered with the customer to improve their workflows and allow the installation process to match the BIM model. Before this, the customer had no way of tracking the product usage and productivity until the end of the project. With such a large IPD project, the customer wanted a new approach to their processes. We have provided services that include modeling the firestop locations based on the UL System matrix, uploading the model to BIM360 Glue, annotating the locations by floor and producing shop drawings. Attendees will gain the knowledge of a growing standard of care in the construction industry.

New subscription-based features in Autodesk Revit software provide significant enhancements to integrated whole-building energy simulation powered by the Autodesk® Green Building Studio® cloud service. This demonstration will highlight the automatic creation of accurate energy model geometry from detailed Revit software elements, such as walls, floors, roofs, windows, etc. This eliminates the time and effort required to rebuild a separate energy model, leaving more time for design iteration and optimization. This class will also show how other energy analysis data, such as thermal properties of building materials and building/space function, can be defined in Revit for use in the energy simulation and how the Autodesk Green Building Studio cloud service supports a more collaborative energy analysis process between architects and engineers, leading to greater accuracy and better design optimization from the earliest stages in the process. Finally, the extensive validation work conducted on this new feature will also be presented. While knowledge of Revit will be beneficial for attendees, it is not a requirement.

The fast-growing network around unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as the availability of cloud-based processing and analysis services, enables the emergence of a category of new workflows that disrupt the conventional surveying methods. By flying a UAV around a house or a building to capture aerial images, and by processing such images to produce meaningful 2D orthographic views and 3D data using Autodesk, Inc., photo-to-3D service, we have developed a complete solution that delivers the necessary reports in a fraction of the time and cost usually necessary to get such reports. Insurance adjusters are now being offered a completely new, automated solution that avoids using ladders to climb on roofs to measure or visually inspect them following a claim. Come and check out how this solution works, and how the same workflow can be applied to many other use cases and industries.

In this presentation, we'll look at managing Autodesk Fabrication service and profiles to use the content flexibility that Revit provides. We will explore how to quickly set up a new profile with services designed to get the model started with minimal information. We will discuss what to include in the services, what should instead be added to the parts tab as needed, and how this expedites project startup and allows for quality control checking. We will go over what services should be included in a new profile and how that allows for "on the fly" changing of material and connection types in the model. We will explore a method of creating and tracking customized services and specifications within a profile. And we will discuss using "reload configuration" as a quality control check. All of this will lead to a faster, leaner, more productive workflow.
