This presentation will demonstrate the integration of Femap with Autodesk Inventor Nastran software to elevate CAE and finite element analysis capabilities. This class will work through the process of using Simulation CFD software and Simulation Mechanical software to generate engineering data throughout the product development process in order to optimize the design. You will discover that you don't need to be an analyst or expert in finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to use the Simulation software as many engineers still believe today. We will walk through the entire process of setting up and running simulations that examine how the effects of wind may directly affect mechanical properties, performance, and product design.

Autodesk CAD, CAM, and CAE Solutions can be applied to the design and manufacture of high-quality molds to produce visually and dimensionally correct plastic parts at minimum cycle time. Moldflow tools ensure optimum mold design based on such considerations as best feed and cooling system placement and sizing. Designing molds for balanced and easy cavity filling will reduce mold stresses and extend mold life. Autodesk CAM tools, from Delcam, facilitate efficient design and manufacture of precision molds using subtractive and additive methods. Additive methods (also known as 3D printing) enable the manufacture of innovative, complex, and lighter-weight components in various applications. Netfabb tools can automatically generate lighter-weight designs, and then optimize component orientation, deflections, and supports to make the additive manufacturing process successful. This class will show the workflow utilizing the Moldflow, CAM, and Netfabb software systems to ensure right-first-time manufacturing.

Participants will learn how to use Revit software as a powerful and rapid geometry creation tool. As energy analysts and mechanical engineers, we often require multiple energy analysis programs to produce energy performance models, compliance models for Title 24 and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), load calculation models, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models. We can save significant time and money by using Revit software to create a single analytical model that we can export to various programs, including Simulation CFD software, eQUEST, energyPRO software, Trane's TRACE software, Integrated Environmental Solutions Ltd.'s Virtual Environment software, and California's new CBECC-Com software. This class will provide a detailed workflow for creating the geometry and exporting to the various programs, and you will discover tips and tricks to help troubleshoot and control the quality of your mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs.

Commercially available simulation software was used to study the effect of processing conditions on the structural performance of glass-fiber-reinforced polypropylene. Processing conditions such as gate locations were used to evaluate the subsequent change in glass fiber orientation and its effect on structural performance of a demonstrative part. Results show that processing conditions play a critical role in the success of a structural composite and must be considered foremost in the design process.

This class will discuss different approaches to injection molding simulations with  Moldflow Insight software. Individual users have been given a problem to solve using Moldflow software. With seamless integration into existing design pipelines, fully automated virtual wind-tunnel analysis will enable studios to assess performance criteria, visualize airflow, and make informed design decisions at any stage of development. Designed to provide reliable and consistent insight, the Studio Wind Tunnel Project solves traditional challenges associated with vehicle aerodynamic simulation.

Providing precise and reliable management of inspection details is only a part of the construction inspection process. It is also essential to be able to visualize and manage access to the inspection records. In this class we will show how you can minimize risk by using Infrastructure Map Server software and BIM 360 Glue software to have reliable, searchable inspection data that is readily available in an easy-to-use, web-based system. The Pre and Post Facility Condition Inspection System will manage all aspects of the condition of infrastructure within a certain distance of the construction corridor; and it will do so in a database that provides time-bound, consistent, reliable, auditable, and secure access to a set of data elements that are located using GPS location—and by reference to the appropriate construction corridor feature. Through out the class we will cover the features of the system, such as how it captures the details of the inspection and maintains reliability. We will also discuss the tools that are included to suit the needs of various stakeholders.

Many services such as Facebook, GitHub, and Google have already deployed OAuth 2.0 servers. The OAuth 2.0 spec leaves many decisions up to the implementer. Instead of describing the possible decisions that need to be made to successfully implement OAuth 2.0, this lecture will explain most of the appropriate decisions to make for most implementations. This lecture is an attempt to explain OAuth 2.0 in a simplified format to help developers and service providers implement the protocol. Attendees will also discover how they can use other people's OAuth servers instead of implementing their own.

Post processing results from finite element analysis (FEA) solutions is essential to understanding whether your design passes or fails based on your engineering criteria. There are many options available for checking the design integrity, such as different types of stress plots. There are also several contour options such as nodal, elemental, max, and average. During this course we'll explain the importance of all these options and what to look out for to make sure the results are accurate.

This class will look at a new feature in Autodesk PLM 360 software: Classification. We will review a production use of the feature in the Electrical Components International (ECI) tenant, and we will perform a small demo that will show the potential use of the power of Classification in Autodesk PLM 360 software.
