How to enable efficient design decisions with VRED S/W

In this hands-on lab, you experience the step-by-step workflow between Revit® and Showcase software. Learn how to quickly and easily transform digital prototypes or architectural designs into compelling imagery, movies, and real-time presentations. This class is an introduction to Showcase. If you have never used this software before or have used it only a few times, this class is for you. We also discuss Importing models from other sources such as Inventor®, AutoCAD® and 3ds Max® Design software.

Alstom uses VRED Professional software to produce high-quality imagery for project communication, as well as real-time-experiences production for design reviews and communication movies, enabling a single-visualization digital mockup. Meanwhile, Alstom also needs to make sure its designs reach a broader population that includes external teams and individuals, and from this perspective, the communication production workflow is provided by Stingray game engine. This talk will describe the collaboration between Alstom and Autodesk, Inc., to build a VRED data workflow that capitalizes on Stingray game engine as an output source for their designs, consequently extending the reach of their project communication capabilities. This session features VRED Professional and Autodesk Stingray.

Installers will be interested in our 3D Fab map with identified pieces and indication of the field connections. The mechanical room will be divided in several sections, to optimise fabrication in the workshop. Cut length sheets and bill of materials will be generated, allowing for spool labeling per zone to minimise material handling and increase job-site efficiency. All this will be realised using Revit, ReCap Pro (retrofit jobs and job-site scanning), Revizto (issue tracking and virtual reality) and the Victaulic Tools For Revit. This session will be presented in an interactive way by combining presentations and movies with live demonstrations.

Using drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on job sites to capture the existing conditions has gained a lot of popularity, thanks to cheaper equipment and a growing demand for accurate and up-to-date frequent surveys. ReCap software offers a complete set of tools to process UAV photos and to create 2D, 2.5D, and 3D deliverables that will be used in the Autodesk portfolio to extract the right information for the user. In this hands-on class, you will learn a complete process using ReCap in combination with InfraWorks software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and Revit software to extract various meaningful data from UAV photos, such as measurements (distances, surfaces, volumes), digital terrain model (DTM), BIM model, movies, virtual reality content, and so on.

These days, the commonplace use of visual effects (VFX) in movies has raised audience expectations in terms of VFX quality, and has driven television productions to step up both the quantity and quality of VFX for almost every scripted television series. Due to the nature of television schedules and budgets, VFX artists share more in common than just similar toolsets with their colleagues in the architectural visualization industry; hence, efficient workflows in one field can be modified to benefit the other. Kim Lee (senior CG generalist from FuseFX New York) will present various case studies from a variety of current television series, showing how tools like 3ds Max software are used to create high-quality VFX, quickly and efficiently. Lee will show how the artists at FuseFX capitalize on capabilities like photogrammetry scanning, and MAXScript and python scripting—along with various 3ds Max software tools and plug-ins—to create award-winning VFX for many of the most popular shows. This session features 3ds Max.

Over the course of 60 minutes, we'll teach you how to utilize Fusion 360 software's rendering workspace to turn your perfectly engineered designs into photorealistic images. We'll use real-world examples to showcase how scene settings, lighting techniques, texture maps, and advanced material editing can take your renderings to the next level.

Intended for intermediate to advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D software users, this class is designed to show land development professionals techniques and nuances for creating renderings and movies of their proposed projects. Utilizing many of the programs provided in Infrastructure Design Suite software (AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, Revit software, and 3ds Max software), this class will consist of a live demonstration showing how to create compelling and grade accurate visualizations of your site designs. By treating InfraWorks 360 software as a “level builder” we will explore how to composite existing and proposed ground surfaces, build and apply coverages for pavement and pavement markings, and prepare tree surveys for 3D placement. Finally, we will explore the use of InfraWorks software models in real-time game rendering engines. By capitalizing on real-time engines, we can shortcut long rendering times to create accurate visualizations quickly.

The first part of this session will demonstrate the latest developments in ReCap Pro software, focusing on features released since last year (2018 product year). Topics will include attaching Navisworks projects for visualization in RealView, video export, navigation improvements, and collection and processing of scans collected with ReCap Pro for mobile. We will cover new features and workflows in depth and with real-world project data. The second part of the session will cover advanced workflow and how-to topics pulled from our community forum and idea station. Examples may include mesh generation, point cleanup, registration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and handheld data, editing, measurement, visualization modes, regions, and view states.

And from what you've read in tech magazines or seen on YouTube, you probably geek out about it like the rest of us. Yeah, virtual reality (VR), AR, and mixed reality (whatever that means) sound and look really cool, like everything we've seen in sci-fi movies is becoming REAL reality. We're approaching the point where we've accepted this idea, but how can we use the technology in a practical sense and actually get some value from these expensive headsets, other than just explaining to owners that it's "super cool?" That is what this session will be all about. We're going to demonstrate the ways and methods that you can use your design models (Revit software), use real information that is updated through BIM 360 software, and take them into an AR or VR environment (using the Stingray gaming engine) and actually view the stuff that matters in the field.

3ds Max software is a mature 3D digital content creation package, widely used in the video game industry and by numerous television and visual effects studios. And it is a standard in design and architectural visualization. With the recent addition and democratization of the Arnold renderer, creating stunning imagery and video has never been more accessible. Arnold now brings the visual quality of Hollywood blockbuster movies back home to 3ds Max. In this session, you’ll learn how to import any CAD models in 3ds Max. Then, we’ll show how to create and edit shaders and build realistic lighting setup in an interactive environment. Next, we’ll see how to capitalize on out-of-the-box features to bring your designs to life, such as 3ds Max Fluids to simulate physically accurate liquids and nCloth to generate realistic fabric type objects.
