Frequently asked questions

How do I renew my subscription if my subscription has already expired?

Subscriptions that have expired cannot be reactivated or restarted. To use the software, simply purchase a new subscription. In many cases, you can view your purchase options for a new subscription by launching your expired software. Alternatively, you can purchase a new subscription directly from Autodesk or from an Autodesk Partner.

Will I keep my special renewal pricing if I change my term?

Yes! If you change from one term to another, you’ll still enjoy the benefit of special renewal pricing—typically, up to 10% less than you’d pay for a new subscription1 —if you renew before your subscription expires. However, if you let your subscription expire and purchase a new one, your price will be about 10% higher. You’ll save money if you stay on continuous subscription instead of letting a subscription expire and buying new. And you’ll keep that savings even if you select a new term in Autodesk Account.

Example: You have an AutoCAD LT subscription with a 1-year term that will renew at $420/seat, paid annually. If you change to a 3-year term, you’d be paying $1,179/seat when that change happens, paid every 3 years. If you let your original 1-year subscription lapse and purchase a new 3-year subscription, you’d be paying $1,310/seat, paid every 3 years.

How do I renew my subscription if I purchased online?

Your subscription will automatically renew if auto-renew is on. Simply sign in to your Autodesk Account and select the product you want to renew. Verify that auto-renew is on and your payment method is correct.

How do I renew my subscription if I purchased from Autodesk sales?

If your subscription is enabled for auto-renew, simply verify that auto-renew is turned on and your payment method is correct in Autodesk Account.

If your subscription is not enabled for auto-renew, you’ll have to manually renew. Prior to expiration, renewal reminders will be emailed to your contract manager. If your subscription can be renewed online, go to your account to renew starting 90 days before your subscription expires.

If you have questions at renewal time, you can talk with your sales rep about options including adding seats, aligning subscription billing dates, upgrading to a Premium plan, or switching to an Industry Collection.

How do I renew my subscription if I purchased from a Partner?

Prior to expiration, renewal reminders will be emailed to your contract manager. If your subscription can be renewed online, you can also visit Autodesk Account to renew starting 90 days before your subscription expires.

If you have questions at renewal time, you can talk with your Autodesk Partner about options including adding seats, aligning subscription billing dates, upgrading to a Premium plan, or switching to an Industry Collection.

For help renewing, contact the Partner listed in your renewal notification or in Autodesk Account or use the  Autodesk Partner Locator.

Why don’t I see the “add a seat” option in Autodesk Account?

This feature is not available in all regions3 and is only available for certain subscriptions enabled with automatic renewal. If the Add Seats option doesn’t appear in your account, your subscription may not be eligible for self-service seat management. Please contact your Autodesk Partner or contact support for assistance.

Can I add a seat to my subscription at any time?

Yes, you can add seats to your eligible subscription at any time. The cost of the seat will be prorated based on the time remaining on your existing subscription. All seats will renew at the next subscription renewal date.

Why can’t I change the term for my subscription?

If the option for changing your term is not visible or is grayed out, self-service term changes are not available for this subscription in Autodesk Account.

To adjust your subscription, please contact support.

Why can’t I align my payment dates for subscriptions I bought online?

To align payment dates for multiple subscriptions, they must each have the same term length and payment method. You can adjust the term lengths and change your payment methods so they all match, then proceed with aligning your payment dates.

If the Align Payment Dates option is grayed out, self-service is not available for your subscriptions.
