Parking layout is crucial to a well-planned commercial, educational and healthcare development. In fact, the parking count typically decides how large your building can be. We can now layout parking in minutes, get up-to-date parking counts and perform swept path analysis all inside Autodesk Vehicle Tracking.
We’ll be using the “Vehicle Tracking” add-on in Civil 3D. The “Vehicle Tracking” tab should appear on your ribbon. In this session, we’ll look at Swept Path Analysis. Swept Path Analysis is useful for analyzing vehicle turns by animating vehicle paths directly within the CAD environment.
Before you get started, download the project files.
Vehicle Library Explorer:
1. Select the “Vehicle Library Explorer” icon from the “Swept Paths” panel at the top of the screen.
2. The “Vehicle Library Explorer” and “Vehicle Diagram” windows will appear. These allow you to search for specific vehicles by country, state, vehicle type and more. You can even search for a vehicle by name in the search box.
The “Vehicle Diagram” window will show vehicle properties including width, length, height and more.
If you would like to make changes to the vehicle properties, right-click on the name of the vehicle and select “Edit a copy” or you can create a new vehicle by selecting “New” from the save drop-down menu.
3. Select your vehicle and click “OK”. You also have the option to make that vehicle your default by clicking “Make Default” and then “OK”.
Report Wizard:
1. Select the “Report Wizard” icon from the “Swept Paths” panel at the top of the screen.
2. A window titled “Report Wizard: Start” will appear. There are some pre-built style options in the drop-down menu:
You can also create a new style by clicking “New” and look at advanced settings by selecting “Advanced…”. In the advanced settings, you can choose additional elements to your report like profiles, doors and more.
In our example we’re choosing Report 0003 Hatched Body Envelope.
3. After selecting your style, make the report visible by checking the “Report visible” box.
4. Check the “Plot construction lines” box as well.
5. Select “Next”.
6. In the “Body Outlines” window, specify what you want to see in your report.
Here you can specify what your forward and reverse line colors will be.
7. Click “Next”.
8. This will take you to additional windows where you can customize your report further:
