Scene conversion using the 3ds Max converter

00:00

Now, we will see the Scene Converter.

00:04

Since we have imported the model from Revit, legacy Autodesk material have already been applied to the 3ds Max Scene,

00:13

and this would need to be first converted to the physical material using the 3ds Max Scene Converter.

00:21

So, what is Scene Converter?

00:23

So, Scene Converter easily converts your legacy scene to take the advantage of newer light, material, and render features.

00:33

It is basically simple workflow to migrate light, material and objects between the render engines.

00:41

Once we have successfully chosen our renderer,

00:44

now it's time to convert all the materials and the camera to the Physical Material and Physical Camera.

00:52

We will go to the Rendering, and we will hit "Scene Converter".

00:59

This is a very pretty simple tool to use.

01:03

All you need to do is you have to click on the "Editor",

01:07

and here you have to choose "Change Renderer to" "Arnold",

01:14

and then just check over here.

01:18

So, as you can see, the Mental Ray Arch and Design Material will be converted to the Physical Material.

01:24

Autodesk Material also will be changed to the Physical Material, and Standard Material will be changed to the Physical Material.

01:31

So, this is pretty straightforward.

01:34

And we will also check all the camera will be converted, Physical Camera or not.

01:40

Yes, this says correct.

01:42

So, we're doing it just to make our material and the camera to friendly to Arnold Renderer.

01:48

Okay, once done, just hit "Convert Scene" and it is done.

01:55

So, as you can see over here, the conversion complete.
