In this video, we will touch based on linking versus importing Revit files in 3Ds Max.

And in order to bring these models into these applications, you have two options.

The first option is to create a Live Link to Revit and AutoCAD or FBX file.

This is useful when the drawings files are still work in progress and the files are updated as needed.

The other option is to import the model into the Scene.

Based on your requirement, you can import as a new scene or incorporate into existing scene.

Importing works well when the files is final.

As we have a final model, we will import it into a New Scene.

From the File menu, click "Import", "Import".

Choose the Medical Center.rvt file.

And this begins the process of importing Revit file.

You will see an Import dialog box.

For Import settings, we will leave Select Revit View as default.

Combination Rule, we have multiple options.

For this, we will choose Combine the Revit Family Type and Revit Material.

This way, the Revit objects belonging to the same family type with same material becomes a single object.

For Objects, we will choose Materials to import cameras and lights.

Daylight system, we’ll uncheck, so that we can create a daylight system within 3ds Max.

The rest geometry we'll leave it as default and click "OK".

A dialog box will pop up saying Select Revit Family Types to Import.

In this case, we’ll say "Import All" and click "OK".

Once the process is complete, you will see the model in the Viewport.

In the Perspective View, click "Perspective", "Cameras", "More".

Here you will see the number of cameras that were created in Revit.

From here, choose "Looking at Entrance Shaded" and click "OK".

Before we do anything else, it is a good idea to save the scene.
