Utilize the Inbox and set notifications

00:09

Within Flow Production Tracking, you have an Inbox.

00:13

The Inbox can be accessed via the Inbox tab in the global navigation menu.

00:17

On the left hand side, you will see a list of notifications.

00:22

You can filter your Inbox to show you only

00:24

messages that are about specific updates, like publishes or notes,

00:30

or you can hide read messages to show you only those messages you haven't yet got to.

00:37

Your site may ask you if you would

00:38

like to display desktop notifications for your Inbox.

00:42

Choose OK, if you'd like to receive notifications in this way.

00:47

Now, through the concept of following,

00:49

you can receive notifications when new notes, versions, publishes, or other

00:54

important changes are made on anything related to your work.

00:58

These notifications will be sent to you via your Flow Production Tracking Inbox.

01:02

To receive notifications,

01:04

you need to be following what you want to be notified about.

01:07

First,

01:08

let's set the kind of notifications we will receive. From Account

01:11

Settings, which is accessed by going to the User Profile

01:14

thumbnail on the top right of the interface and selecting Account Settings,

01:18

go to the My Follow Settings tab.

01:24

From this tab,

01:25

you can set up which information you

01:26

will be subscribed to receive notifications about.

01:30

I'm using Flow Production Tracking as Jordan.

01:32

Jordan can choose to be notified if a note, version, or file is

01:36

published to her site and linked to a task she is following.

01:39

She can also choose to be notified if the assignment, bid, start date,

01:43

due date, or status of a task she is following is updated.

01:47

Being notified of changes to tasks directly in

01:50

her Inbox will help Jordan to ensure she

01:52

stays on top of any changes in her deadlines and task assignments in real time.

01:57

Once Jordan has set which types of notifications she will receive,

02:00

she can choose what she's going to get

02:02

notifications about. To receive notifications on specific things,

02:06

Jordan will need to follow those things directly.

02:10

From Jordan's profile page,

02:11

let's check out some of the tasks that she has been assigned to.

02:16

Let's click into one of these tasks.

02:21

We'll get more into navigating your site and reading pages in future videos.

02:25

For now,

02:25

all you need to know is that we're in a task detail

02:28

page which gives us information about this task that Jordan has assigned to.

02:34

By clicking on the follow button located on the top right of the page,

02:38

Jordan is now following this task.

02:40

Since Jordan has set up her notification

02:43

settings and has started following this task,

02:45

she will now receive a notification in her Inbox

02:47

whenever there is an update to this task.

02:50

Let's see this in action.

02:53

Alexandra is a manager on Signal, the same project that Jordan is working on.

02:58

She is updating the schedule and has decided that the

03:00

due date for Jordan's task will need to change.

03:03

Alexandra is going to change the due date of Jordan's task to next week.

03:08

When Jordan logs into her site,

03:10

she will now have a red notification over top of her Inbox to indicate there

03:14

is a new message. When Jordan clicks into her Inbox and checks her unread message,

03:19

she can see that she has been notified that the due date of her task has now changed.

03:25

Being notified of changes directly to your Inbox will

03:27

help you stay on top of your tasks.

Utilize the Inbox and set notifications

Within Flow Production Tracking, every user has an Inbox. The Inbox can be accessed via the Inbox tab in the global navigation menu.

Flow Production Tracking Inbox in the navigation bar

On the left hand-side of the Inbox, users will see a list of notifications. Users can filter their Inbox to show only messages that are about specific updates, like publishes or notes, or they can hide read messages to show only those messages they haven’t yet got to.

Upon setup, the user's site may ask users if they'd like to display desktop notifications for their Inbox. Users can choose "okay" to receive notifications in this way.

Through the concept of following, users can receive notifications when new Notes, Versions, Publishes, or other important changes are made on anything related to a user's work. Notifications are sent to a user’s Inbox.

To receive notifications, users need to be following those things that they want to be notified about.

First, users can set the kind of notifications they will receive.

Setting up what kinds of notifications to receive

From Account Settings, users can go to the My Follow Settings tab. From this tab, users can set up which information they will be subscribed to receive notifications on.

Users can choose to be notified if a note, version, or file is published to a site and linked to a task a user is following.

Users can also choose to be notified if the assignment, bid, start date, due date, or status of a task they are following is updated.

Being notified of changes to tasks directly in a user's Inbox can ensure users stay on top of any changes and expectations in real-time.

Once the kinds of notifications a user will receive are set, they can choose what to follow.

Following

To receive notifications on specific things in Flow Production Tracking, users must follow those things directly.

To follow:

  • Go into any entity detail page.
  • Click on the "Follow" button, located on the top right of the page.

Once a user has set up their notification settings, and has started following something, they’ll receive a notification in their Inbox whenever there is an update to that thing.
