Step-by-step Guide

InfoWorks WS Pro allows you to make changes to a specific object with the goal of achieving a desired simulation result. For example, resizing a single pipe can increase the flow rate within a network.

To change the size of a pipe:

  1. With the Pipe Replacement scenario open, in the Tools toolbar, click Properties.

The InfoWorks WS Pro Tools toolbar, with Pipe Replacement displayed in the Select scenario drop-down and the Properties command selected and called out.

  1. In the GeoPlan, click the dark blue bypass pipe.
  2. In the Properties window, under Shape, in the Diameter (in) field, enter ”200”.

The Properties window, Shape section, with the Diameter (in) field set to “200” and highlighted in red.

To commit the changes:

  1. In the Model Group window, under Session 04, right-click BridgeNet and select Commit changes to database.

The BridgeNet shortcut menu with Commit changes to database called out and selected.

  1. In the Warning dialog box, click OK.
  2. In the Commit change to server dialog box, click OK.

To run the simulation:

  1. In the Model Group window, under Run Group, double-click Pipe Replacement.

The Model Group window, Run Group, with Pipe Replacement called out.

  1. In the Schedule Hydraulic Run dialog box, in the Network group box, notice the down arrow, or Update to latest button, is bordered in red, meaning there is a more up-to-date version of the network.
  2. Click Update to latest.

In the Schedule Hydraulic Run dialog box, in the Network group box, the Update to latest command outlined and highlighted in red.

Notice in the Network group box, the version number changes from “5” to “6”.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Click Re-Run.
  3. Click Yes to confirm.

Once the simulations finish, observe whether the change in pipe diameter gives the desired results.

Note: This method is ideal when you want to change only one object, or a very small number of objects.
