Here's a hint, in Revit land, a pier is actually a structural column.
00:06
This project is different from a typical Revit project, though.
00:09
It's different because we imported our civil structures.
00:12
We actually introduced a bunch of new parameters we can add to our schedule.
00:16
So, let's look at how to create a pier schedule.
00:19
So, let's jump into Revit.
00:22
It doesn't really matter what view we're in, but I'm going to jump to my south elevation, anyway.
00:28
Now, let's go to our View tab.
00:31
Let's go to the Schedules drop-down.
00:34
Let's go to Schedules/Quantities.
00:37
Let's scroll down until we find Structural Columns.
00:43
And for the name, let's call it PIER SCHEDULE.
00:48
Let's click "OK".
00:51
All right, so let's bring in some stuff.
00:53
I'm going to scroll down to Type Mark.
00:57
I'm going to add that by clicking this little button here.
01:00
Grab Type, going to add that.
01:06
Let's scroll until I find Parts Type, add that.
01:12
I want to find CIP concrete volume.
01:21
Right here. CIP concrete volume, going to add that.
01:26
Let's find Structural Material, click it, add it.
01:32
Now, let's grab some column stuff.
01:34
So, let's scroll up to where it says columns and brackets.
01:39
Let's find [Columns] Diameter.
01:43
[Columns] Depth is probably a good one.
01:46
[Columns] Number of columns.
01:48
All right, grab that.
01:51
[Columns] Width, grab that.
01:54
Maybe scroll down to the Pier Height.
02:00
We're going to add that.
02:03
And we can actually add stationing, too.
02:05
So, let's scroll down to Station, find that.
02:08
Let's add it.
02:11
All right.
02:12
Now, let's go to our Filter tab.
02:16
I want to filter by Type Mark.
02:21
I want it to begin with a capital P-.
02:30
That way, anything that has a P- is going to show up.
02:34
Now, let's go to our Sorting and Grouping tab.
02:38
Want to make sure we sort my Type Mark.
02:43
I want to make sure we turn on Grand totals.
02:49
Let's go to the Formatting tab.
02:53
I want to select CIP concrete volume.
02:59
For No calculation, let's make sure we calculate totals.
03:03
And let's click on our "Field Format".
03:08
I don't want this to use project settings, because I want this to be cubic yards.
03:15
Two decimal places is fine. Let's click "OK".
03:22
Let's click "OK".
03:30
Let's click "OK" here.
03:37
Here you go. Now, we have a schedule.
03:39
Notice that you can calculate your volumes.
03:41
If we go into Structural Material, I can click into here.
03:46
I can actually browse for our concrete.
03:50
Type in CONC.
03:55
We'll just say Cast-in-Place gray. Click "OK".
04:00
We can do the same for the rest of them.
04:02
Because notice we're in a schedule, so we can quickly update our components either physically in the model or in our schedule.
04:20
There you go. Save your model. That's how you create a pier schedule in Revit.

Creating a Pier Schedule
Here’s a hint. In Revit land, a pier is actually a structural column. This is different from a typical Revit project though. It’s different because when we imported our Civil Structures, we actually introduced a bunch of new parameters we can add to our schedules!
- Open the model you have been working in
- You can be in any view to do this, but let’s go to the South elevation view anyway
- On the View tab, click Schedules then select Schedules Quantities
- Scroll down to Structural Columns
- For the Name, type in PIER SCHEDULE
- Click OK
- Select the parameters in the left column, click the Add button and add the parameters shown below, in this order:
- Go to the Filter tab
- Filter by: Type Mark
- Begins with: P-
- Go to the Sorting/Grouping tab
- Sort by: Type Mark
- Check Grand Totals on
- Go to the Formatting tab
- Select CIP concrete volume
- Select Calculate totals:
- With CIP concrete volume still selected, click the Field Format… button
- Uncheck Use project settings
- Change the units to Cubic yards
- Click OK
- Click OK again. You now have a schedule calculating your concrete volumes
