Creating and adjusting drawings
Creating and adjusting drawings in a project - Exercise
- To create new drawings, right-click on the project and select the option to add a new drawing. A dialog box will appear, allowing you to enter a name for the drawing.
- Add the name for your drawing.
- Select the template file. Choose from two of the available options: ACAT Electrical.DWT for NFPA standard or ACAT Electrical_IEC.DWT for IEC standard projects.
- Select your template. For this exercise, use NFPA Standard, which will use the corresponding template file to generate the drawing. By default, the drawing will be saved in the same location where the project file was created. However, you can choose to save it in a different location if required. If a new location is specified, the drawing will be stored there instead.
- Provide descriptions. For this exercise, describe this one as Online Drawing for a Factory Flow Layout.
- Enter details like project code, installation code, and location code. These are specific to IEC designations.
- Enter the sheet number. For this exercise, assign the sheet number as 01, section as Plant, and subsection as Unit 1.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
- To adjust the properties further, click on the Properties and then view and verify the contents. Now all the descriptions and values entered or displayed for verification.
- Confirm by clicking OK again. A new drawing has been created.
- Next, copy a drawing. Sometimes you will need to duplicate a drawing to reuse its content, but to copy an existing drawing, right-click on it and select the Copy option. This creates a duplicate of the drawing.
- Rename the copy of the drawing. For this exercise, rename it as Demo 02.
- A prompt will appear asking whether to apply the project settings or retain the drawings original settings. Choose to apply the project settings. Now, you will have two drawings available in the project.
- To add a drawing from a different project, open the drawing from any other project by double-clicking it.
- Once the drawing is open, add it to the current project. Now, the newly added drawing appears within the project.
- Remove a drawing if needed.
