There are many ways that pages can be modified. Any modifications that you make to a page can be saved, so that every time that page is accessed, the page loads with those modifications already applied.
In the right-hand corner of any page there is a Page Settings drop-down menu.
If users make any modifications to a page, a blue icon will appear beside the Page Settings drop-down that displays the word Modified.
When you place your cursor over the icon, the text will display, "This page has unsaved layout changes. Save page to commit them."
The warning is telling you that you've made changes to the layout of the page you're currently on, and that you have not saved those changes.
Until changes have been saved, you are the only one who can see those changes. If you want everyone to see a page in the same that you do, you will need to save the page.
Admins can use the Use as Another User function, to see a page through the eyes of someone else.
To save a page, go to the Page Settings menu and select Save Page.
If users don't save a page after they've made layout changes, then once they log out, the page will revert back to its last saved layout.
If at any time a user wants to revert a page back to its last saved layout, they can do this from the Page Settings menu by selecting Revert Page.
Once a page has been reverted back to its last saved state, or has been saved, the Modified icon will disappear.
When users are modifying and saving pages, what they are doing is modifying the layout and look of a page. The content or data about entities that appears on a page is universal across a site. If users erase data, it will be erased site wide.
If users make changes to a shared page, they should be mindful of the other users using that page when saving any changes. The information one user might be looking for on a shared page may not be the same information that another user is looking for.
If you want to see the history of changes and modifications to a page, check out Page Settings History. Just like the Use as Another User functionality, this menu item is also only accessible to you if you have Admin permissions. Each time the Page has been saved, there will be a system summary along with other important information about each save, including the Date the Page was updated and saved, the Person who saved the Page with updates, and the system summary of Page settings changes.
If you make layout changes to a page that you've saved, but you want to go back to a past saved version, you can select a restorable reference point, and choose Restore, to restore the page's layout.
