Create a cast in place concrete pile

Create a pile family.

The Pyle family will have a course level of detail shown in the

The pile would also have an embedment and allow dimension in in elevation and plan.

Let's begin by creating our new family

on the home screen.

and we'll go ahead and click open.

So once again,

we have two reference planes that are pinned and also define the origin.

And if I go to the modify ribbon and I take a look at family category and parameters,

you'll notice of course that the family

category is already set to structural foundations.

And you can see here this pile is always gonna be vertical which is good.

If you move down a bit here, we can see we've got material for model behavior.

I'm going to set this to concrete, this is going to be an in situ pile.

So we might want it to merge with other elements.

And here I'm going to check shed.

And the reason for this is when I embed this into a pile cap.

I want to be able to schedule and find out the coordinates perhaps

of each of the piles that are embedded in the pile cap.

So that's what this option will do for us.

OK? So that's the category set so we can go ahead and select. OK?

And we now start to create our parametric framework

to do this. We'll go to the create ribbon

and on the create ribbon, we'll select reference plane.

I'll start by using pick lines

and then on the options bar, initially, I'm gonna set an offset of six inches

and then I'll create my parametric framework.

So the idea here is you can see that we've got our two center planes still in place,

but then we're framing the circular pile with these reference planes

that will allow me to dimension to these and also align to them as well if I want to.

Now, of course, for this to work successfully,

we need to place some equal dimensions on these reference planes.

So going on the modifier ribbon, I'm going to go ahead and select aligned dimension

and we'll place some dimensions down on

the three vertical planes and make them equal

and the same on the three horizontal planes

and also make them equal.

While we're here, we need to set these to equal the diameter of the pile.

So I'll place two dimensions down and on the context ribbon, I'll select,

modify to release the dimension command.

I'm now going to select both dimensions by holding down the control key

and going down the context ribbon here, we can create a parameter.

So for the parameter name, I'm gonna call this one pile diameter.

It's going to be a tight parameter.

And you can see of course,

the discipline and the length are grayed

out because that's been defined by the dimension

and we'll group this under dimensions.

And you can now see that's been assigned to those two dimensions.

If I select one of these reference planes and I now drag it,

but also set up some reference planes in the front elevation.

Now, we want the pile to embed into the cap or the beam.

So I'm gonna put a reference plane above here and also

and then we'll go ahead and select reference plane.

Now, this time, I'm just gonna sketch these in.

So I'm gonna sketch a reference plane here

that's gonna represent the cut off level.

And another one down here which will represent the bottom of the pile

So there are our reference planes defined.

and we'll sketch a circle from the center point of the reference plane

Now, of course, I need to control this circle with a dimension.

and we'll place the diameter on the pile just here.

So let's go up to the ribbon and we'll finish the edit mode.

We'll make sure that the pile is correct in the front end of ocean.

We can select our extrusion
