Use Quick Measure for real-time measurements

Use the Quick Measure tool for real-time area, distance, and perimeter measurements.

00:03

The measure command can be accessed by going to the home tab,

00:08

the utilities panel

00:10

and clicking on the measure. Pull down.

00:13

The first option under measure is quick,

00:15

commonly referred to as the quick measure command.

00:20

This is a great graphical tool as you

00:22

can quickly see dimensions just by hovering over

00:26

an area.

00:28

Notice that there are objects such as furniture or other

00:32

items in the middle of some of the rooms.

00:34

This can cause issues with quick measure.

00:38

You can see measurements stop at the furniture geometry

00:42

to alleviate this.

00:44

I have all of the rooms on their own layer. I can isolate that layer

00:49

and the results will be obvious

00:53

using layer isolate will isolate everything on the selected layer

00:59

so that those items will be the only items on the screen.

01:05

As you can see with no obstructions in the middle of the rooms,

01:09

measurements can be accessed quickly and easily.

01:13

And that's not all

01:14

while in the quick measure command.

01:17

If you left click

01:18

and hold the mouse button,

01:21

you get instant area and parameter values

01:25

not too bad for just hovering and clicking.
