Mark parts of 2D and 3D objects in AutoCAD with Point Layout

Mark intersections, nodes, ends, grips, and other parts of objects in your AutoCAD project using the Manually Add Points dialog in Autodesk Point Layout.

In Autodesk Point Layout,

you can use the Add Selection Points tool to mark intersections, nodes, ends, grips, and other parts of 2D and 3D objects in your project.

With a project open, right-click in the model space and pick Point Layout > Add Selection Points.

In the Manually Add Points dialog, choose the appropriate tab for the objects you want to mark.

In this example, the Walls tab is chosen.

Enter a description and point number, and then click OK.

Now, select the object or objects you want to mark.

In this case, a rectangle is selected.

Press ENTER.

In the Mark selection dialog, you have several options for marking the selected object.

Here, Grips is selected.

In the Elevation filter dialog that follows, choose if you want to mark the Bottom, Top, or All points on the selected object.

Grips are now marked on the rectangle.

Repeat this process to easily add selection points to 3D objects as well.
