In Revit, you can use the Optimize Lengths tool to optimize the length of placed
00:08
or converted straight parts that do not match standard lengths.
00:11
To begin this exercise, hover your cursor over a straight fabrication part, and then press TAB to highlight the chain of connected parts.
00:19
Then, click to select the highlighted parts.
00:22
Using the Filter tool, de-select the duct fittings from the selection set to ensure that only ductwork lengths are optimized.
00:31
On the contextual ribbon, click Optimize Lengths.
00:35
This tool will add, remove, or modify the length of straight fabrication parts to maximize the number of standard-length segments,
00:43
as defined in your fabrication configuration.
00:46
Depending on the initial length of any given part, note that the tool might place a small segment to make up any differences.
00:53
If this occurs, you can select the part and use the Reposition Part control in the drawing area to move it to the other end of the straight run.
01:02
Also, it is important to know that straight parts that are pinned or part of a palette will not be optimized.
01:09
Revit makes it easy to optimize the straight lengths of generic ductwork by adding or modifying lengths of straight segments.
