You can use queries to simplify output reports by creating a selection set using filters. Selection sets are good for finding features on the map from an output report.
To run the simulation in the exercise file:
To access the output report for the run:
The report that opens only contains elements in the domain, in this case, 8-inch pipes in pressure zone 4. A filter can be created from this report data. Filters can be used to locate specified data on the map, or to save a record of features with a prescribed value.
The filter statement is added to the Data Filters pane. Verify that the statement reflects what you are looking for, which in this case are pipes with a flow greater than 10 gallons per minute. This technique is similar to using the Query Builder.
An Information dialog box appears, showing how many features in the report have the specified value. In this case, there are a number of pipes with a flow greater than 10 gallons per minute.
In the Report Manager, all records that meet the filter are selected, as indicated by a check mark in the first column.
To view the results of your selection set in the map:
All pipes saved in the HIGH_FLOW selection set from the Report Manager are added into the domain and can be found on the map in red.
To make these pipes stand out, increase the size of the red symbology:
The pipes in the domain that you set up with the HIGH_FLOW selection set from the Report Manager now clearly stand out in the map.
