Release an Inventor part with a change request in Upchain

Release a BOM component by initiating a change request in Upchain.

00:03

In Upchain, you can send an individual Inventor part through a change request (CR) workflow.

00:10

The workflow determines the status of the item at the end of the workflow.

00:14

For example, an item can be set to Released after a CR workflow.

00:19

You can initiate a change request from your CAD plugin or directly from Upchain, as in this example.

00:25

With Upchain open in the BOM view, select a project in the navigation pane to open it in the center view.

00:32

In this brake assembly example, the assembly and all of the parts have a status of Development.

00:38

Click more actions next to one of the parts, such as CLA-Screw-10, and then select Send to > Change request.

00:46

In the change request interface, select the pre-configured Workflow that you want to initiate for this part, and then click Save.

00:55

Click Start Workflow to initiate the workflow.

00:59

Depending on the workflow, different tasks may be triggered.

01:03

In this example, clicking Approve is all that is needed to automatically update the status to Released.

01:10

Once approved, in the BOM table, select the item to open the item details pane.

01:15

Here, click the Where used tab to view where the item is currently being used throughout your tenant, including other projects and assemblies.

01:24

Then select the original brake assembly to return to the BOM view.

01:28

In the center view, you can see that CLA-Screw-10 now has a status of Released.
