Review wall structure concepts.

  1. Start Autodesk Revit.
  2. In the Recent Files page, in the Models section, click New.
  3. In the New Project dialog box, click Browse.
  4. Select the default.rte template, and click Open.

  1. Click OK.
  2. In the Architecture tab, Build panel, expand Wall and select Wall: Architectural.
  3. In the Properties palette, Type selector, select Exterior – CMU on Mtl.Stud.

  1. In Properties, click Edit Type. This opens the Type Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Preview button to see the wall in a plan view.
  3. Below the preview window, in the View drop-down, change to a Section view.

  1. In the Type Parameters section, next to Structure, click Edit.
  2. In the Edit Assembly dialog box, review the Layers of the structure, specifically noting the Core Boundaries that impact the location line of the wall.

  1. Click OK twice to exit the dialog boxes.
  2. Review the Properties information, including the Location Line and Top Constraint.
  3. In the Options Bar, review the settings and deselect Chain.
  4. In the Modify | Place Wall tab, Draw panel, select Line.
  5. Pick a point in the view to start the wall.
  6. Pull it to the left and notice the temporary dimensions, or a dimension can be typed in manually.

  1. Press ENTER to place the wall.
