Pressure pipe networks are used for main water transmission systems.
00:08
In this example, you use Civil 3D to create a pressure network by selecting a reference surface to assign elevations.
00:16
This is an effective way to convert a rough sketch of a pressure pipe design into a 3D pressure network model.
00:23
From the Home tab, in the Create Design panel, click Pipe Network and select Pressure Network Creation Tools.
00:32
In the Create Pressure Pipe Network dialog, add the following information for this example:
00:38
Network name: CULINARY
00:42
Pipe Run name: Pipe Run
00:45
Parts list: Standard
00:49
Pipe size: Pipe-8 in-push on-ductile iron-350 psi-AWW
00:56
Reference surface: VO-SM
01:00
Enable Create surface profile to follow, and add a Cover distance of 3.000'.
01:07
Reference alignment: LONG CT
01:10
Pressure Pipe label style: <none>
01:14
Fitting label style: <none>
01:17
Appurtenance label style: <none>
01:21
Click OK.
01:24
Click to select the path in the drawing area for WATER MAIN 1.
01:29
Follow the path shown in cyan which is located on the _WATER layer.
01:34
When you get to a point on a curve, simply select CURVE from your command line.
01:40
To revert to a straight line, simply select STRAIGHT from the command line.
01:46
Once finished, press ENTER.
01:49
Adjust your curved pipe if needed by selecting the pipe and using the grips.
01:55
Continue your pipe layout by inserting an 8” TEE where the 2 roads intersect.
02:00
From the Ribbon, on the Layout panel, select an 8x8 inch tee and select ADD FITTING to insert the tee.
02:08
You can then continue to work with your pressure network layout.
