Within Civil 3D, the Section Editor command allows users to inspect and modify individual cross-sections along a corridor.
00:12
This detailed view helps you to identify specific design elements,
00:16
such as slopes, cut/fill extents, and material layers,
00:21
ensuring that each section meets the design criteria of the project.
00:26
Begin by opening a drawing in Civil 3D with a corridor already modeled.
00:31
Select the part of the corridor that you want to inspect or modify.
00:37
Then, in the contextual ribbon, in the Modify Corridor Sections panel, click Section Editor.
00:44
The view is automatically divided into four different quadrants:
00:49
one shows the horizontal alignment, another shows the vertical profile,
00:54
a third shows the assembly used for that section,
00:57
and the fourth shows the actual parameters,
01:00
including the existing ground and finished ground surfaces.
01:04
To modify parameters for the assembly at that specific station,
01:09
from the Corridor Edit Tools panel, click Parameter Editor.
01:14
This opens the Corridor Parameter window,
01:17
where you can set overrides for the selected station.
01:20
For example, to increase the Base Depth for heavier traffic,
01:24
leave False deselected,
01:26
which sets the Override to True,
01:28
and then adjust the Value to .35.
01:31
Press ENTER to apply the change.
01:36
The Design Value updates, and in the Override column, True is selected.
01:42
If you need to apply changes to a range of stations,
01:46
in the Corridor Edit Tools panel, click Apply to a Station Range.
01:51
In the Apply to a Range of Stations dialog, select the Start and End stations, then click OK.
02:00
Close the Corridor Parameters window.
02:04
To inspect more sections, in the Station Selection panel,
02:09
expand the Select a Station drop-down and select a specific station.
02:13
Alternatively, next to this drop-down, click Go to Next Station to move through the model.
02:20
Notice that in the alignment, a white line indicates the section that you are currently viewing
02:26
and allows you to easily track your position within the model.
02:30
Now you can use the Section Editor to efficiently inspect and modify individual cross-sections within your corridor design.
