Navigate the Project navigation menu

Navigate through Flow Production Tracking at a high level, regardless of individual projects.

00:12

The global menu allows you to navigate through

00:14

Flow Production Tracking at a high level.

00:17

Regardless of individual projects,

00:19

you can find media, people, and pages all at a site level.

00:25

The Project menu is how users will navigate around a project.

00:28

Every project in Flow Production Tracking can have its own unique navigation

00:33

menu, as most users will find themselves working within particular projects.

00:38

The Project navigation is one of the main ways users will interact with their site.

00:42

Let's take a look at the Project navigation menu on the demo animation project.

00:47

On the left hand side, we can see the name of the project we are currently navigating.

00:52

Next,

00:53

we have a series of tabs that reflect

00:54

the available entities within the demo animation project.

00:58

We can navigate through assets, sequences, shots, tasks and media

01:04

to see what has been created on this project.

01:06

Since there are too many entities to be

01:08

displayed in any one project navigation menu,

01:11

each Project navigation menu contains an Other tab.

01:16

From this drop down,

01:17

you can select any of the entities that are not visible in the main display.

01:21

Which entities are in this display menu versus which ones show up under

01:26

the other tab is customizable and can be changed depending on your needs.

01:30

In the demo animation project,

01:32

the Other tab is where we can access entities

01:34

like notes that have been written on this project,

01:37

playlists that have been created,

01:39

and time logs that users have made on their assigned tasks,

01:42

to see how many hours have been logged to the project.

01:46

Next is the Project Pages tab,

01:48

which will show all pages that you have created

01:51

and have been created by anyone in this project.

01:53

Just like the all pages tab of the global menu,

01:56

from this menu,

01:57

you can also create and manage pages that will be related to this project.

02:02

Last but not least on the right hand side, we can see Project Actions.

02:06

From this menu,

02:07

we will be able to configure the entities

02:09

that are visible in the Project navigation.

02:12

You can also save the project as a template if you like this

02:15

particular project's layout and would like to apply it to other projects.

02:19

You can also change the project configuration to use a project

02:23

template with a layout that works better for your particular project.

02:27

While the global menu allows you to find media people and pages at a site level,

02:31

the Project menu narrows down that information

02:34

to only what's contained within that project.

02:37

The global navigation menu will stay the same

02:39

regardless of which project you're working on.

02:42

Only the Project navigation menus will change.

02:45

The options

02:45

you see in a particular project menu will reflect

02:48

the entities that are being tracked within that project.

02:51

Flow Production Tracking has several built-in project templates,

02:54

each with a slightly different project navigation.

03:03

For example,

03:04

the film VFX template lists sequences and shots in the Project navigation,

03:08

While the episodic TV template lists episodes.

03:12

Since Episodes aren't a relevant entity to a film project,

03:16

this entity is not part of the main Project navigation

03:19

or part of the built-in film schema.

03:22

Meanwhile,

03:22

the games template lists Levels and Assets and excludes shots altogether.

03:28

Each entity page contains data about that entity.

03:31

So a Shots page will show shots,

03:35

an Assets page will show assets,

03:38

a Levels page will show levels and a Time Logs page will show time logs.

03:43

Pages can be viewed in different ways and customized

03:46

to show you only the data that you need.

03:48

Getting back to the Project navigation,

03:51

I mentioned that the global navigation allows you to

03:53

find media, people, and pages at a site level.

03:56

While the Project menu narrows down that information

03:58

to only what's contained within that project.

04:01

If you click on any one of the menu options in the Project navigation,

04:05

the results provided back to you will be only those linked to that specific project.

Navigate the project navigation menu

The project navigation menu

The global menu allows you to navigate through Flow Production Tracking at a high level, regardless of individual projects. You can find Media, People, and Pages, all at a site level.

The project menu is how users will navigate around a Project. Every Project on your site can have its own unique navigation menu. As most users will find themselves working within Projects, the Project navigation is one of the main ways users will interact with Flow Production Tracking.

Take a look at a typical project navigation menu:

A typical project navigation menu

  1. On the left-hand side, users will see the name of the Project they are currently navigating in.
  2. To the right of the Project name, there is a series of tabs that reflect the available entities within that Project.
  3. Since there are too many entities to be displayed in any one project navigation menu, each project navigation menu contains an "Other" tab, that will display any of the entities that are not visible in the main display.
    • Which entities are visible in the main display menu versus which ones show up under the "Other" tab is customizable.
  4. "Project Pages" shows all pages that have been created within this Project.
  5. On the right-hand side, the project navigation and templates can be configured from "Project Actions".

While the global menu allows users to find Media, People, and Pages at a site level, the project menu narrows down that information to only what’s contained within that project.

The global navigation menu will stay the same, regardless of which project you’re working in. Only the project navigation menus will change.

The options your users have available in a particular Project menu will reflect the entities that are being tracked within that Project.

Flow Production Tracking has several built-in Project templates, each with a slightly different Project navigation that relates to that project's schema:

  • The Film VFX Template lists Sequences and Shots in the project navigation.
  • The Episodic TV Template lists Episodes in the project navigation.
  • The Game Template lists Levels in the project navigation.

New project templates

Each entity page contains data about that entity. For example:

  • An Assets page will show a list of assets.
  • A Levels page will show a list of levels.
  • A Time Logs page will show a list of time logs.

When users select any of the menu options in the project navigation, the results provided back will only be those linked to that specific project. For example, a page showing Assets selected from within a project’s navigation will only show results of assets from within that project.

Pages can be viewed in different ways and customized to show you only the data that users need.
