This case study explores how we automatically ingested Autodesk Construction Cloud building information modeling (BIM) content (3D model, drawings, docs) using generative AI, knowledge graph technologies, and SAP gateways to automatically generate assets in SAP. This smart handover provides operations with an adapted data framework enabling rapid information contextualization to support any field engineering or maintenance problem-solving activities. In this POV—executed in collaboration with Autodesk, Capgemini, and Cognite—we've explored solutions to the two following business problems: How do we reduce the postdelivery bottleneck of asset creation in SAP from 12 months to less than one month, enabling bidirectional updates between SAP and BIM data sources? How do we reduce downtime and improve reliability by decreasing the response time following an event by 70%–80%? And how do we eliminate the burden of manual data gathering (contextualization) across multiple siloed systems and provide co-pilot support (generative AI) to summarize and correlate data sources?
