The "Canal do Sertão Alagoano" is an important initiative of the Brazilian government that aims to combat drought by providing access to water for various purposes, such as rural and urban human consumption, livestock watering, and irrigation. The successful implementation of this project can serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges. In this session, you'll learn more about the implementation of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) in a 27 km section of an open channel design. We'll highlight the collaboration between the design and construction teams and the clients through a common data environment (CDE). We'll discuss the complexity of 3D modeling for open channels in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, the use of Subassembly Composer to automate channel sections with multilayered earth fill, and the use of self-adjusting earth embankments to accommodate different soil materials. We'll also cover the use of Dynamo for minor automation and Navisworks software for design simulation.

Have you encountered any challenges when creating a site context 3D model for a new project or proposal without sufficient survey data? This class will focus on workflows that will enable you to better create, evaluate, and communicate conceptual designs using InfraWorks software, Civil 3D software, and Revit software. We'll demonstrate how to build concept models from scratch by using the InfraWorks Model Builder tool, and we'll make modifications to the surface in InfraWorks by using imported 2D layout data from AutoCAD software and Civil 3D. Also, we will show the bidirectional workflow between Civil 3D and InfraWorks for grading design options and exporting out as IMX from InfraWorks to Civil 3D and converting them as toposurface in Revit for site work via publishing surfaces and linking topography to and from Autodesk Construction Cloud. Finally, we will cover the best practices to append the InfraWorks-exported FBX into Navisworks software for federated model with collaboration options like Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 and Shared View/web view links.

New visualization and virtual reality (VR) tools are available, but how can we make the most of them? This class will delve into the newest VR and visualization tools to explain how they can be used to enhance workflows within infrastructure projects for rail, highways, and bridge structures—and get the whole team onboard with your project proposals. During this class there will also be an opportunity to experience these projects using a VR headset.

This talk will be about real-time, city-scale data visualization, analytics, computation, and simulation in Unreal Engine. We'll demonstrate real-world examples where complex master-planning data sets from multiple stakeholders were integrated to build an immersive digital twin platform in Unreal Engine. You'll learn how the outcome facilitated stakeholder engagement and collaboration and the ability to explore what-if scenarios of the urban development. Materials and textures application and rendering were automated, enabling application of different materials composition to city infrastructure and buildings to provide a realistic feel of the urban context. The speed of the real-time rendering was a masterpiece of computational geometry application to achieve automated processes.

We’ll go deep into the real practice used for digitizing Ipiranga Museum, located in Brazil’s São Paulo, the 12th most populous city in the world. A Brazilian history museum, Ipiranga Museum is a symbol of eclectic architecture and contains a vast collection of furniture, documents, and historically relevant artwork. Discover how to explore reality capture to generate and detail accurate models, including, in this case, both the Museum's Monument Building and Independency Park where it is situated. We will cover the many potential integrations among ReCap Pro software, Revit software, Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, and BIM 360 software, and demonstrate the ongoing results of this project. These are the first steps toward developing a digital twin for an existing historical asset, with the conclusion planned for 2022.

This class will cover how the Autodesk AEC Collection for Infrastructure can be used for detailed bridge design using InfraWorks, Inventor, and Revit. Leverage Inventor assembly of structural elements into subcomponents for design detailing in Revit, components tagging for cost estimation and carbon calculator for sustainability purposes. We will apply InfraWorks advanced features on an actual project that results in Rapid Engineering Modeling (REM) for bridges.

The Volterra-Detroit Foundation (VDF) set out on a mission to digitize the history of Volterra, which dates back beyond the Roman era into the ancient histories of the Etruscan era. VDF won an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games to use the Unreal Engine back in 2020. Now, with Autodesk and Epic partnering even closer, there are so many wonderful workflows that we've used to activate all the survey data into Autodesk and Epic products. This class will focus on taking data from products like ReCap Pro, ReCap Photo, InfraWorks, Revit, and 3ds Max software into the world of Epic with products like RealityCapture, RealityScan, Twinmotion, Quixel, and the Unreal Engine. This will be an in-depth technical course that shows the picks and clicks involved in getting through some of the toughest challenges the foundation faced while digitally preserving the wonderful history of Volterra.

Interest in the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to grow as governments, companies and individuals begin to realize the potential that a data-driven world has to offer. This talk explores how the construction industry can use the data it collects via tools like BIM and sensors to feed into the wider IoT agenda and the benefits this could bring. We will discuss how we can utilise the data we collect for a variety of purposes including benchmarking and continuous improvement, while also considering how we can combine our data with data sets from other sectors to create greater insights for the industry, client, and end user. Finally, we will look at how we can manage some of the challenges of being a data-driven industry including data management and storage, pain/gain share, ethical considerations, and the need to recruit staff with different skill sets.

In this presentation, you'll see how InfraWorks software was used to communicate design intent and plan design and construction activities for "Mega Project.” We're building at an unprecedented pace globally, replacing and upgrading failing infrastructure, and planning, designing, and constructing flood control and power generation projects—as well as the cities of the future—around the world. InfraWorks can be the tool you use to help tell the project story, from conceptual design to finished product.

In this technical session, we'll go through the entire corridor workflow using the new corridor interface. Here we'll look at creating a corridor with multiple baselines (alignments and feature lines). We'll also add corridor transitions to the model and review best practices. We'll also incorporate several custom subassemblies into the model. This will be an in-depth look at ways these new tools can improve our corridor model.

Creating custom bridge parts ready for modeling transportation projects in InfraWorks software can be challenging for the uninitiated. This class will provide the chance to learn how to create these parts using both the Revit and Inventor methodologies from scratch in a hands-on environment. We will look at the benefits of each method and how each can be incorporated into a transportation project and progressed through the workflow from modeling in InfraWorks to the documentation phase in Revit. These techniques will be worked through in the context of bridge engineering, but they will also be applicable to tunneling.

Parametric design tools aren't just for programs like Inventor, Revit, InfraWorks, or Civil 3D software; there's a set of parametric drawing tools that you can use to create dynamic relationships and constraints between objects in AutoCAD software as well. The parametric drawing tools will revolutionize the way that you draw and edit objects in AutoCAD. This class will introduce you to parametric drawing in AutoCAD by using both geometric and dimensional constraints to add intelligence to your objects. You will learn how using AutoConstrain and Infer Constraints modes can help you quickly add constraints and change your process from drafting to modeling. If you've ever wanted geometry in your drawing to update based on changes that you've made to other objects, or if you've wanted to type a new value into a dimension and have the object update based on this new value—then this class is for you.

In this class we are going to look at how we can create and model geological data with the Geotechnical Module in AutoCAD Civil 3D software. The class will cover how to import and generate boring holes and surfaces in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and then we'll go on to cover the essential techniques in modeling the subsurface data. The class will see how to use Feature Lines and Break Lines to mold and manipulate AutoCAD Civil 3D software surfaces to model geotechnical features. We will then learn how to convert the AutoCAD Civil 3D surfaces into AutoCAD software 3D solids ready for use in other software systems like Revit software and InfraWorks software. This class is designed to assist you in your understanding of the techniques used to model and visualize substrata in order to better understand and present information.

Road infrastructure consists of many simple elements—road signs, traffic barriers, traffic lights, and so on. Creating and placing them separately in large infrastructure projects can be very labor intensive. In this technical presentation, we’ll demonstrate how to automate the creation of an intelligent model for road infrastructure using Dynamo scripts and universal Revit families. This class will teach you how to organize a geographic information system (GIS) system of a traffic management plan in Civil 3D software and effectively transfer it to an InfraWorks model. Learn how to set up an effective link between a 2D plan and the consolidated intelligent model in accordance with the information embedded in the vector objects. We’ll also cover the creation of parametric barriers in Inventor software for InfraWorks, and how to apply parametric barriers for component roads in InfraWorks. See a demonstration of the Dynamo script that places barriers on the appropriate position in the consolidated model in accordance with the attributes of the barrier’s points from the 2D plan.

We'll explore the collection process and business implications for street-level reality capture and examine 2 alternatives, such as Google Street View and CycloMedia. We'll also discuss practical workflows for municipal governments using this data, including design and visualization, with a focus on water asset management and pavement surface markings. Finally, we'll describe how to effectively integrate these data sources with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software.
