Toggle appearance and visibility in animations.

00:06

After completing this video, you'll be able to

00:08

toggle component visibility in an animation

00:11

and toggle component appearance in an animation

00:15

in fusion 3 60.

00:16

Let's get started with the supply data set animation appearance dot F 3D.

00:21

In this video,

00:22

we're going to be exploring the visibility and appearance

00:24

options that we have available to us in an animation

00:28

to get started.

00:29

Let's continue to expand the browser so we can see each of the components

00:33

keeping in mind that the position of the timeline or the play head

00:37

is going to be important in terms of where we

00:40

are going to be changing the visibility of objects.

00:43

So for example, if we want the hardware to be hidden,

00:47

we would want to go back to the scratch zone,

00:49

go to our hardware and either toggle off its visibility

00:53

or go to our transform options and use show hide.

00:57

Then when we bring the play head forward,

00:59

notice that the hardware is not currently visible

01:02

but around two seconds, I can toggle on the visibility

01:05

and then its visibility will be on for the rest of the animation.

01:09

So as we play through this,

01:12

we'll be able to see that the hardware is currently hidden and

01:14

then it'll begin appearing at that specific point in time.

01:18

Now, there are various options that we can use.

01:20

When we talk about the visibility of an object,

01:24

we can stretch out the width of this light bulb icon,

01:27

which will determine how long it takes the opacity to change of the objects

01:31

you can see here, there's a slow transition,

01:34

bring the hardware in until it's fully visible.

01:37

This can be a great way for you to change up the animation

01:41

and determine which components you want to see at certain points in time.

01:45

Keep in mind that when we talk about actually using this animation downstream,

01:49

this won't matter in a detailed drawing.

01:51

It only will take the last position in the timeline.

01:55

Some of the other options that we do

01:57

have for components is to change their appearance.

01:60

When we take a look at the housing and specifically the front cover.

02:03

When the front cover is selected, we can go to our appearance options

02:07

and we can change the appearance in this design.

02:10

I'm gonna select a metal option.

02:13

And when we expand the metal under aluminum,

02:15

I'm gonna be using a blue aluminum appearance,

02:18

we're gonna say, OK.

02:20

And notice that this object has now changed its appearance.

02:25

The appearance itself is not going to be dependent upon the timeline position.

02:28

However, the visibility will,

02:31

it is important to note that we can toggle the appearance override on and off.

02:35

So once we have changed the appearance

02:37

by clicking on that icon,

02:39

we can toggle it on and off and you can see that it goes

02:42

back to that metal gray or we can show it as its aluminum blue material

02:48

at this point.

02:48

Let's go ahead and make sure that we do save our animation before moving on.
