Running Checklists

00:01

DEEPAK MAINI: For any construction project management

00:03

software to be effective, it needs

00:05

to have a robust checklist management system that

00:08

should allow users on site to run

00:11

various types of checklists, such as commissioning,

00:14

precommissioning, QA QC, safety, and so on.

00:18

This is where BIM 360 Build is absolutely amazing because it

00:22

gives you the flexibility of creating your own custom

00:25

checklists, or you can import checklists from other sources.

00:30

Welcome to running checklist on site using

00:32

the BIM 360 mobile app course.

00:34

In this course, we are going to talk

00:36

about the entire process of running checklists

00:38

on site using the mobile app.

00:41

Now before I jump on to my BIM 360 mobile app,

00:44

I want to show some admin options.

00:46

And for that I'll jump on to my Chrome browser window.

00:50

As discussed in the introduction,

00:52

checklist management system is part of the Field Management

00:55

service.

00:56

So you need to activate the field management

00:58

service for you to be able to run checklists.

01:01

Once the service is activated, if I click on Field Management,

01:05

I can now quickly have a look at all the different roles

01:08

and the permissions assigned to those roles

01:09

when it comes to checklists templates and also checklists.

01:13

Also, for checklists to be effective,

01:16

it is really important that we have got locations

01:19

defined in the project.

01:20

So for example, if I am assigning a commissioning

01:23

checklist to someone, they need to know exactly the location

01:26

of the equipment on which they can run the checklist.

01:29

For that if I click on locations, on this project

01:33

I've got two towers, so tower one and tower two.

01:36

Both these have got roof HVAC locations

01:39

because that's where our equipment are on which we are

01:42

supposed to run the checklists.

01:44

Now that we understand this, let's

01:46

have a quick look at the Field Management service.

01:50

Right now, I'm in the checklists tab

01:52

and I can see that this user has got

01:54

a number of different checklists assigned.

01:56

If I go to the Templates tab, I can

01:58

see that these are the templates that we've got available.

02:01

There's a quality checklist, there's a safety checklist,

02:04

and there's also a commissioning checklist.

02:06

Because this user is logged in as an admin,

02:09

they can import checklists templates

02:11

or they can create new templates as well.

02:14

Going back to the checklist tab, I'm

02:17

going to go into this checklist here

02:19

and I'm going to schedule it to be run today.

02:22

And I'll pick today's date.

02:26

Now that we understand this, let's jump on to the BIM 360

02:29

mobile app and go through the process of running checklists

02:32

on site.

02:34

All right.

02:34

So on the BIM 360 mobile app, I'm

02:36

going to tap on Checklists on the bottom toolbar.

02:40

And I can now see that these are the two checklists that

02:42

were assigned to me that are supposed to be run today.

02:45

I can also see the location of the equipment on which I

02:47

need to run this checklist.

02:49

Because I'm currently in tower one,

02:52

so I'll start with the tower one checklist which

02:54

is the pre functional test.

02:56

I'll tap on the checklist.

02:58

Now this checklist has got two sections.

03:01

The first section is the pre functional test cooling

03:04

tower operation section, and the second section

03:07

is the signature section.

03:09

Let's start with running this checklist.

03:12

The first question is cooling tower starts and runs.

03:16

Once I have gone through the process of starting and running

03:18

the cooling tower, I can then decide whether it

03:21

passes this question or fails.

03:23

In this case, I'm going to go pass.

03:25

And if need be, I can tap on Photograph

03:27

and take a photo as well.

03:30

Second is fan rotation verified correct under normal operation.

03:34

I'll go pass.

03:36

Similarly in this case, I'm going

03:38

to run through all these items.

03:40

I'll make sure that I have performed those activities

03:42

on the equipment and I can then decide whether pass or fail.

03:47

In this case, this equipment passes pre functioning test.

03:51

In the comments I can either comment here.

03:53

And now in the signature section I can specify my name,

03:58

I can specify my company.

04:01

Now notice that as soon as I tap here to sign,

04:04

it says checklists sections are incomplete.

04:07

So what I need to do is I need to make sure I tap on Done

04:11

here once I've run through all the questions in this section.

04:14

And now it says all sections completed

04:16

I can sign this checklist.

04:18

I'll tap here.

04:20

And now I'll tap on Create.

04:22

It shows me on the top right that the checklist

04:24

is completed.

04:25

I can tap on it.

04:27

And now it has completed this checklist.

04:29

I can also see in the checklist panel

04:31

that it says 100% completed.

04:33

Similarly once I'm in tower two, I

04:36

can go to the second checklist.

04:38

In this case section one has got four questions.

04:42

I'm going to pass all of these.

04:46

I'll tap Done.

04:49

And now I can specify the details here as well.

04:54

And lastly, I can tap here to sign.

04:58

Now because this checklist is completed again,

05:00

I can tap on checklist completed.

05:03

And the status of this checklist in the checklist panel

05:06

is also set to completed.

05:08

So this is how we run checklists on site.

05:11

In the next course I'm going to talk

05:13

about what happens if there are nonconforming items that fail.

05:17

How we create issues using those items.

05:19

So I'll see you in the next course.

05:20

Cheers.

02:14

Going back to the checklist tab, I'm

02:17

going to go into this checklist here

02:19

and I'm going to schedule it to be run today.

02:22

And I'll pick today's date.

02:26

Now that we understand this, let's jump on to the BIM 360

02:29

mobile app and go through the process of running checklists

02:32

on site.

02:34

All right.

02:34

So on the BIM 360 mobile app, I'm

02:36

going to tap on Checklists on the bottom toolbar.

02:40

And I can now see that these are the two checklists that

02:42

were assigned to me that are supposed to be run today.

02:45

I can also see the location of the equipment on which I

02:47

need to run this checklist.

02:49

Because I'm currently in tower one,

02:52

so I'll start with the tower one checklist which

02:54

is the pre functional test.

02:56

I'll tap on the checklist.

02:58

Now this checklist has got two sections.

03:01

The first section is the pre functional test cooling

03:04

tower operation section, and the second section

03:07

is the signature section.

03:09

Let's start with running this checklist.

03:12

The first question is cooling tower starts and runs.

03:16

Once I have gone through the process of starting and running

03:18

the cooling tower, I can then decide whether it

03:21

passes this question or fails.

03:23

In this case, I'm going to go pass.

03:25

And if need be, I can tap on Photograph

03:27

and take a photo as well.

03:30

Second is fan rotation verified correct under normal operation.

03:34

I'll go pass.

03:36

Similarly in this case, I'm going

03:38

05:11

05:13

about what happens if there are nonconforming items that fail.

05:17

How we create issues using those items.

05:19

So I'll see you in the next course.

05:20

Cheers.
