Create a pressure network parts list

00:05

So, now that we've set our pressure network catalog, we can go ahead and actually start creating pressure network part lists.

00:12

So, what we're gonna do is really go and set our pressure network catalog to the Imperial_AWWA_PushOn.

00:21

I'm gonna click "OK".

00:22

And then inside of pressure networks, down under parts lists, you have the option to use the current standard one that's currently in the drawing.

00:30

And you can Right Click and "Edit" and add in pipes and fittings and appurtenances,

00:36

just like we did for pipes and structures when we did pipe networks.

00:40

We just Right Click, Add Material for the PushOn parts list.

00:46

There is no additional materials, there's only ductile iron here.

00:49

So, you can Right Click and add size and select your sizes; or fittings, same thing.

00:55

I'm actually going to create one new parts list to work with for future drawing.

00:60

And we're gonna go ahead and do that now.

01:01

So, I'm gonna go to parts lists, I'm gonna Right Click, I'm going to click "New".

01:04

I'm gonna go to my Information tab.

01:06

I'm going to call this "12_Trunk", and then I'm going to click onto the Pressure Pipes.

01:12

I'm going to Right Click on here, I'm gonna click Add Material.

01:14

I'm gonna select Ductile Iron, and I'm going to select "OK", I'm going to dropdown, Right Click on Ductile Iron, click Add Size.

01:20

I'm only going to do a 12-inch pipe for this network.

01:23

So, I'm going to go ahead and click "OK", and then I can move on to fittings.

01:27

Under Fittings, I'm going to Add Type.

01:30

I am not going to deal with any Crosses or Tees, I'm only going to have Elbows, so I'm just gonna check Elbow and click "OK".

01:37

I'm going to drop this down and Right Click on the Elbow, Add Size.

01:40

I am only dealing with 12-inch pipes, so I only needed to deal with a 12x12.

01:45

I'm going to add in all of the bend angles that we have available to us,

01:49

so that we have all the options available to us when we're doing our pressure network layout.

01:53

So, I'm gonna start with a 11.25. I'm going to click "OK".

01:57

I'm going to expand this so that we can see all the parts that we've added to make sure we have them all.

02:02

So, we've added 11.25, added 12-inch.

02:05

We're going to go and add another size. We're gonna go and select the 12-inch again.

02:10

And what you'll notice is that the 11.25 is gone because we already have it in our list.

02:14

So, it knows that we don't need to select that option again.

02:18

So, we're gonna go with 22.5 and select "OK".

02:22

We're gonna Right Click again and Add Size, go to 12 again and you'll notice 45 populates.

02:27

So, we'll click "OK".

02:29

Right Click, Add Size, 12; 90 populates.

02:35

We click "OK"

02:37

We are not going to add any appurtenances, but if you needed to add one, you can click Add and you can choose 150 PSI or 200 PSI.

02:47

So, I'm gonna go ahead and click "OK" just so you can see.

02:50

I'm going to Right Click on this 150 PSI and click Add Size.

02:53

I'm going to dropdown here.

02:55

So, there is no 12x12 available for 150 PSI.

02:60

So, I'm going to go ahead and Right Click and Delete.

03:03

And then I'm going to Right Click, Add Type and choose 200 PSI.

03:07

And then I will Right Click and Add Size and dropdown and 12 is available for 200 PSI.

03:13

So, I will click "OK".

03:14

So, moving on from here, we now have pipes, fittings, and appurtenances for our 12-inch line.

03:22

So, I'm going to go ahead and click "Apply" and "OK".

03:26

And you'll see under the parts list, 12_Trunk has populated itself.

03:31

Now, if you wanted to have every single part inside of a parts list that's in your part catalog,

03:39

there is an option just like we had available to us for our pipe networks for create full parts list.

03:46

You can see that the Command Prompt for that is Create Network Parts List Full.

03:51

The command line prompt for creating a full parts list for pressure networks is similar.

03:57

It is Create Pressure Parts List Full.

04:00

So, "Create pressure parts list full".

04:15

If you were to click this and hit "Enter", Civil 3D would stop for a little while depending on the strength of your computer,

04:24

because there is an absurdly large amount of information inside of the pipe networks catalog.

04:32

Also, depending on which catalog you have selected, some of them have a lot more than others,

04:37

but it takes a little while for it to complete an entire parts list using the Create Pressure Parts List Full.

04:44

And it takes a long time to wade through all the information.

04:48

When you create a pressure parts list full, so I don't recommend it, especially if you're working with some of the larger catalogs:

04:55

the one that we're working on, the PushOn catalogs list, is a little bit smaller than some of the other ones.

05:01

So, it might not take as long, but I think it's worth the time to create a specific parts list for what you needed to do.
