Create parcels from objects

00:06

In this video, we're going to talk about creating parcels from AutoCAD objects.

00:10

When you're creating parcels, if you don't feel comfortable using Civil 3D commands to create parcels,

00:16

you have the option to create parcels using lines, arcs, and polylines.

00:22

So in the drawing, if you go and you dropdown to the Layers and you look down at C-PROP-LOTS and C-PROP-ROW, and you unfreeze them,

00:33

you'll see that in this drawing there are two sets of polylines created that we're going to go ahead and turn into additional parcels.

00:42

So what we're going to do is we're going to dropdown into Parcels, we are going to create parcels from objects,

00:47

and we are going to select the lines, arcs, and polylines that we want to convert into parcels.

00:53

So I'm going to go ahead and select this first polyline and this second polyline.

00:57

And if I hit "Enter", it's going to ask me what site I want to place them on,

01:03

how I want them to be displayed, and what I want my label styles to be.

01:06

I'm not going to automatically create any label styles,

01:09

and then has a choice of erasing the existing entities if you don't want to keep the polylines in there anymore.

01:15

I'm going to erase my existing.

01:16

I want my parcels to interact with each other, so I'm going to have them on the same site.

01:21

We'll discuss this later in another video.

01:24

So I'm going to ahead and click "OK" and what you'll see happen is we have now taken parcel one and split it into three parcels.

01:34

We have a area down below.

01:37

We have a area that's available for development and we have what could potentially be a street.
