In this lesson, we're gonna look at how you can create Annotation specifically for the Design Review Process.
00:07
As I'm going through the review process, there's gonna be points where I want to make a comment or I want to ask a question,
00:13
or I may want to highlight a specific area just to get some clarification.
00:18
Now one of the great things about doing model review inside of Revit, I can use the tools I'm used to for documentation.
00:25
And I can tweak them a little bit and use them as part of the model review process.
00:30
So, I'm gonna go ahead and switch to one of my Review Floor Plans. And I'm just gonna zoom in on this corridor right here.
00:39
And let's say I have a question about some of these doors.
00:42
I want to highlight that they need to check them for their fire rating.
00:45
So I could go ahead and create a regular piece of text.
00:49
But this might get lost as I start adding other notes, dimensions and so forth.
00:54
So, I'm going to create a new text type.
00:56
I'm going to click on the "Edit Type" button.
00:59
And I'm going to duplicate this Text Type, and I'm going to call it "Review Note".
01:07
I'm gonna click “OK”. And the big difference between this Text Type and any other text type is that it's gonna be color coded.
01:14
So, I'm gonna set this equal to Red and I'm going to click "OK".
01:20
So now I can insert my piece of text and I can note Check Door Fire-rating.
01:30
And I can add my leaders and I can highlight the doors that I want to be checked.
01:38
And again, because it's indicated in red, it's different from our regular annotation text.
01:43
So it's going to show up visually on the screen as a different type of element.
01:48
I could do the same thing with dimension.
01:50
So, let's say I want to verify the width of this corridor or I want to ask a question to make sure that we have enough with per our egress.
01:57
So, I'm gonna click on Align Dimensions and I'm going to click Edit Type,
02:02
and I'm going to duplicate this type, and I'm going to call this Review Dims.
02:11
And I'll scroll down and again, I'm gonna keep the settings the same, but I want to change the color to be red.
02:18
So now I can place this dimension and any of these dimensions that I see probably want to be verified.
02:26
Now one of the concerns with adding this type of review text and annotation into the model is that it may end up getting printed.
02:34
Now having specific review plans is a good way to prevent them from happening, because these views won't go onto a sheet.
02:41
Now before a major milestone, what I could do is I could highlight the text in a review view,
02:49
if I want to be double sure that it doesn't get onto a view that it shouldn't.
02:52
And I can use the Select All instances in entire project, so I can select that, it will tell me how many instances there are.
02:60
And then once I have them all selected, I could just delete them.
03:04
So, this would be a very safe way to get rid of all of review annotation.
03:09
You want to make sure that you have either address those issues or you have a copy of it somewhere.
03:15
Alright, now it's your turn.
03:16
First, download the sample file for this course, then create some text note and dimension types specifically for the Design Review Process.
03:25
Review the first floor plan and add notes and dimensions using these styles.
