Send a model to Revit

00:06

In this video, we will cover how to send a proposal from Autodesk Forma to Revit.

00:14

All right, let's say we have finalized our initial building in Forma.

00:19

We've run numerous analysis and are happy with the results.

00:23

Now we can send this proposal to Revit for further downstream design.

00:28

Under the proposal in question, click the ellipses then expand the Revit option.

00:36

You will see two options, download Revit Add-In and Send to Revit.

00:42

If you have not already, download the Revit Add-In first.

00:51

Once you have completed that step, click "Send to Revit".

01:00

Open a new project in Revit while you are logged in into the same Autodesk account you use to log in to Autodesk Forma.

01:10

Navigate to the "Massing & Site" section in Revit.

01:13

There, you should be able to see the Forma Add-In.

01:17

Click "Load Proposal".

01:24

Select the proposal you would like to load in Revit and click "Load".

01:32

The load options will show up in a window.

01:35

Here, you can choose if you would like to create wall floors, roofs for buildings,

01:41

loading property boundaries, as well as bringing terrain.

01:50

Once you make your selection, click "OK" and click "Load".

01:58

It may take a few moments to load in the elements,

02:01

but you will be left with your proposed buildings that have Revit elements like walls, roofs, floors,

02:09

loaded mass families, terrain, and generic models for 3D context.

02:19

Once you make the necessary changes and would like to send them back to Forma to run an additional analysis,

02:26

click "Update Proposal".

02:30

It will ask if you would like to proceed with the proposal update.

02:34

Note that once you click "Yes",

02:37

your previous scenario and proposal in Forma will be updated with the changes you made in Revit.

02:48

A loading window will appear to show the uploading progress.

02:52

In Forma, refresh your tab.

02:56

You should then be able to see the changes you made in Revit right in your canvas in Forma.
