We're going to begin with the supplied data set, bevel edged
00:10
detail dot F 3D.
00:12
We're gonna be using the bevel tool to add some harder edges to this design.
00:17
First, we're gonna select the design. We
00:19
want to go to utilities and change the display mode to box display.
00:23
When we're taking a look at a design and box display,
00:26
this helps us better identify and understand
00:28
where some sharper transition should be.
00:31
We can see that we might have a sharper transition on this edge
00:34
as well as this edge,
00:36
this edge here and potentially down here.
00:39
If I go back to a smooth display,
00:41
we can see exactly which edges we might want to tighten up our design,
00:45
we're gonna say, OK.
00:46
And with those edges selected, go to modify and select bevel edge,
00:51
we're gonna change the bevel location to 0.1
00:54
which will allow us to go 10% of the way from our selected edge
00:59
toward the next available edge in both directions.
01:02
Using the segments of one will allow us to remove our selected edge and add an edge.
01:10
what this allows us to do is create a nice tight transition in those areas.
01:15
We can see as we rotate our design around.
01:18
And if we use our view options for visual style, just to shade it,
01:22
we can see now we have some tighter transitions on the overall edges of our design.
01:27
This can really help take a design to the next level
01:30
by allowing us to control those transitions a bit better.
01:34
Keep in mind that if you ever make a mistake,
01:37
you can always double click on an edge and hit delete to remove it.
01:40
But this will change the location of that edge.
01:44
We're gonna use control Z to bring it back and make
01:46
sure that we save our design before we move on.
