Identify parts of a title block

00:02

identify parts of a title block

00:06

in this video we'll review a title block and will identify parts of a title block.

00:12

Infusion 3 60.

00:13

Let's get started with our 123 block drawing in this case we're on sheet two

00:18

and we're taking a look at the title block in the bottom right corner.

00:22

When you create a new drawing,

00:23

Infusion 3 60 title blocks are automatically generated but they can be changed.

00:28

Title blocks often contain bits and pieces of

00:31

information about the design that's getting manufactured.

00:34

In some cases it might just be a part number, a drawing number or title.

00:39

In other cases it will contain critical information such as tolerances,

00:43

material specifications, weight and so on.

00:46

In this case we have a fairly basic title block and again,

00:50

this is one of the standard title blocks that we see in fusion 360

00:53

title blocks are able to be adjusted and changed fairly

00:57

easily in terms of some of the data they contain.

00:60

We can also make drastic changes to the overall structure of the title block,

01:04

including new bits of information as well as things like icons or company logos

01:09

first,

01:10

let's take a look at just identifying the different areas of the

01:13

title block and we're going to do this by having it selected.

01:15

And then double clicking

01:17

when we double click all the text that's

01:19

displayed in blue are going to be considered.

01:22

Attributes,

01:23

attributes are details that often times will be linked to

01:26

properties associated with the design but can be changed.

01:29

For example, the project says 22 sandbox. That project doesn't mean anything to us.

01:35

This detailed drawing is in our intro to blueprints.

01:38

So I'm going to double click on this and I'm going to change this title to

01:41

intro to blueprints

01:44

if I enter now, I've accepted that attribute

01:47

the title of 123 block is fine represents the part that we're creating a drawing for

01:53

but title two and title three aren't filled in.

01:56

If we don't add any additional information, they will just simply be invisible.

02:00

Once we finish our properties,

02:02

you'll also note that this title block

02:05

doesn't actually have material listed anywhere.

02:08

Almost title blocks,

02:09

especially title blocks for manufacturer will include material specifications.

02:14

If we want to make adjustments to title blocks,

02:17

we can do that by selecting the title block.

02:20

Right clicking and editing the title block.

02:23

So far we've only edited the properties but if we edit

02:26

the title block will need to be creating a new one.

02:29

In this case we'll start from what we have here.

02:32

So I'm going to allow the new name of A and S. I. Title block one and say, okay,

02:37

this is going to bring us into the edit mode of the title

02:39

block and here's where we can see things like approved by an approved date

02:43

and all the different bits of information that automatically get populated.

02:48

If we want to simply add new attributes,

02:50

we can do that by going to our text and attribute section.

02:54

What I want to do is I'm going to select approved and I'm going to copy and paste this.

02:58

We can do this by using control C and control V on your keyboard.

03:03

If you're on a pc we can also use the copy option.

03:06

We can copy that, select a from and a two point and then we can right click and say okay

03:13

we also want to add attributes that can be filled in but

03:16

I'm going to change the title of this from approved to material.

03:22

You want to make sure that these are in all

03:24

caps so make sure that you do have caps lock on

03:28

next.

03:28

I want to right click and accept that we can also hit enter to accept it,

03:33

then we want to add our attribute.

03:35

So in this case we'll say attribute will place it here and instead of drawn by we want

03:40

to go through and see if there are any

03:41

attributes that automatically bring in the information we want.

03:45

In this case you can see that there are title, project,

03:47

name drawing skill and in this case we have to do custom for custom.

03:52

What I'm going to do is type in material.

03:55

I'm gonna hit enter,

03:57

I'm going to finish the title block and now you

03:59

can see that we've got this material section added.

04:02

If I double click, you can see the attribute is here and I can type in aluminum

04:10

Once I'm happy with that I hit enter,

04:12

we'll finish the properties and now material and aluminum 60 61 is included.

04:18

You will notice that with the change in title block.

04:20

Some of the other attributes that were previously filled in have changed

04:24

things like the project has changed the title is still the same.

04:27

But our revision drawing number code, all this information is now gone.

04:31

So it is important that if you are making adjustments to title blocks that you do it

04:36

at the beginning of a project before you've created

04:38

any additional information in the current title block.

04:42

If we go back to the first sheet,

04:43

you can see that there's also a note here included about tolerances.

04:47

This is another common feature that you will find in title blocks.

04:51

Oftentimes there will be a universal tolerance unless otherwise specified.

04:55

So it's always a great idea when you're looking at detailed drawings

04:59

to just check for those bits of information in your title block.

05:02

Before you get started doing any manufacturer

05:05

at this point,

05:06

I'm not going to save this detailed drawing but

05:08

feel free to make any changes that you want.

05:11

As long as you save it as a new file name because

05:13

we are going to come back to it in future videos.

05:17

Once you're done,

05:17

making any adjustments to the title block and you have saved it as a new copy,

05:21

make sure you move on to the next step
