Review a piston blueprint.
00:05
After completing this video, you'll be able to review a blueprint,
00:08
identify areas of a blueprint and identify drawing views
00:14
for this video.
00:14
We want to get started by reviewing our
00:16
precision machine and caliper inch drawing dot PDF.
00:19
Specifically, we want to focus on the last sheet, which is our piston.
00:23
We're going to be modeling the piston and we want to identify dimensions
00:26
on the detail drawing that will help us create this in 3d.
00:30
When we take a look at a detailed drawing,
00:32
it's important that we identify things like the dimensions.
00:35
This will help us control sketches and features that we're creating.
00:39
But also the detailed views.
00:41
For example,
00:42
we can see on this view here that we have an a a line which represents section A a.
00:48
When we look through the middle of this part,
00:50
we can see that we've got a cross section
00:53
here which represents the solid portion of this body.
00:57
Because of this cross section view,
00:59
we know that this is essentially a thin walled part.
01:02
And we're going to be using the detailed
01:04
dimensions for the outside height and the inside height
01:07
as well as the inside diameter and outside diameter,
01:10
those values are going to be critical. And as mentioned previously,
01:15
it is important to note that dimensions may be off on detailed drawings,
01:19
especially when they're done with notes.
01:22
The notes for the champers of 0.1 and 0.2 are likely too
01:26
big based on the scale of the rest of the drawing.
01:29
This is something that we can easily identify once
01:31
we begin sketching and creating this infusion 3 60.
01:34
But to get started,
01:35
we want to make sure that we do identify the detailed drawing dimensions
01:39
that are going to be critical for us to remodel this part.
01:42
And once again, that's the outside diameter,
01:44
the inside diameter, the outside height and the inside height.
01:48
Once you're done reviewing this detailed drawing,
01:50
let's go ahead and move on to the next step.
