NARRATOR: Annotating wiring diagrams.
00:03
In this video, we'll add tags and other annotation
00:06
to a wiring diagram view and place the view on a sheet,
00:10
and then add a legend to that sheet.
00:13
I'm working in the Small Medical Center project in the ground
00:16
floor Electrical devices view.
00:18
This view has some of the wires placed
00:20
which are we're now going to annotate
00:22
to create a power plan.
00:24
First I'm going to rename the view to ground floor power
00:28
plan.
00:28
In the project browser, in the electrical power floor plans
00:32
group, I'm going to double click slowly on ground floor
00:35
electrical devices plan, and then
00:37
I can rename it to ground floor power plan.
00:43
We also don't need to see the structural information
00:46
in this view.
00:47
So I'm going to type VV to open the visibility
00:51
graphic overrides dialog box, and then
00:54
in the Revit Links tab in the visibility column,
00:57
I'm going to uncheck Small Medical Center s
01:01
and then click OK.
01:03
First I'm going to zoom in on the exam room
01:06
section of the plan, and we're going
01:07
to add tags to show the circuits.
01:11
In the Annotate tab on the tag panel,
01:14
I'm clicking tag by category.
01:16
I want to make sure our leaders are off,
01:19
and I'm going to select the Home run arrow of my circuit.
01:24
I want to move it away I use a little move control
01:26
and drag it to the side.
01:28
So that's what I'm going to do with each of these,
01:30
I'm going to tag the home run arrow,
01:32
and then I'm going to move the tag to where it fits best.
01:38
Then I'll click Modify to stop that.
01:42
The next thing I want to do is check
01:43
the height of the outlets.
01:45
When I select this outlet here and then look in properties,
01:50
you can see the elevation from the level
01:52
as 1 foot 6, or 18 inches.
01:55
But when I select the outlet that's on the casework,
01:58
the outlet elevation is three foot or 36 inches.
02:03
These outlets need to be labeled with a different height using
02:06
text.
02:08
So in either the Quick Access toolbar
02:11
or in the Annotate tab text panel, click the text button.
02:16
Verify that the size of your text is what you're expecting.
02:20
Pick two points to place the text,
02:23
and then I'm going to type in 36 inches,
02:26
and then click outside the box.
02:29
I'm going to click Modify to stop the text command,
02:32
and then I can zoom in and see this text.
02:34
If I need to, I can move it, make sure you use the control.
02:39
And now I want to copy it to the other places
02:42
where the outlets are 36 inches.
02:45
So I'm going to go to the Modify and click Copy,
02:49
make sure it's set to multiple.
02:52
Pick a base point, and then a second point.
02:57
And I'll move around the entire plan.
03:05
I'll click Modify, and I've got my outlets in there.
03:08
And again, if I want to, I can move each of these
03:11
and get them in place better.
03:15
So now let's get this view on a sheet.
03:19
So I'm going to expand the sheets category
03:22
and then I'm going to select E102 ground level power plan
03:27
and double click to open that view.
03:30
Now I'm going to use my ground floor power plan
03:32
and drag and drop it onto the sheet.
03:35
Pick a point where I want to place it,
03:37
and there's my view just as you had seen it before.
03:42
I also want to add a legend to the sheet that has notes on it.
03:45
This is one that's already been created in this view.
03:48
So here's my general electrical nodes,
03:51
and I'm going to drag and drop that to the sheet as well.
03:54
Using a legend view for notes lets you place them
03:57
on more than one sheet.
03:58
So I could have this exact same legend on the second floor
04:02
sheet for example.
04:04
I don't need to see the viewport title.
04:07
I'm going to the type selector and selecting no title.
04:12
So as you have time you could finish
04:14
filling out the wiring diagram in this view with wires, tags,
04:18
and text.
04:19
The changes will automatically update on the sheet,
04:22
and then you'll be ready with permit drawings.
