Understanding structural families

Module overview

Revit comes with a very comprehensive library of Structural Column and Framing families; however, sometimes there will be a need to create a new family. We will look at how to set the correct structural parameters so our new families can be exported correctly to other software, such as Robot, and what the composition of a Revit Family is. Finally, we will look at some advanced Structural families.

This content takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. By the end, you should be able to:

  • Set structural family parameters.
  • Understand family composition.
  • Create advanced structural families.
