STACY MORGAN: Hello, and welcome to working
00:02
with Packages inside Dynamo.
00:04
My name is Stacy Morgan, Design Technology Manager.
00:07
Packages are a collection of custom nodes developed
00:10
and published by third parties to extend
00:12
Dynamos core functionality.
00:14
Packages are accessible to everyone
00:16
and ready to download using the package manager inside Dynamo
00:19
first of all 3D.
00:21
In this session, we will discuss the different ways
00:23
to search for packages, and read more information as
00:26
to what the package contains.
00:28
We are now at the first step in the workflow,
00:30
searching the online package repository.
00:33
Let's switch over to Dynamo and get started.
00:37
Inside Seville 3D, under the manage tab, visual programming
00:41
panel, will click to open the Dynamo interface.
00:45
Packages are accessible from the Dynamo startup screen
00:48
by clicking the packages menu at the top.
00:51
It is not necessary to be in the dynamo workspace
00:53
to access this menu.
00:55
Under packages, click Search for a package.
01:01
In the online package search dialog box,
01:04
you have the option to start typing in a keyword.
01:07
We also have the option to sort by name, downloads, number
01:12
of votes or author, or apply a filter to only display
01:16
packages pertaining to civil
01:21
Not all developers will add a filter to their package.
01:25
For better search results, we'll turn the filter off.
01:28
Since the Dynamo community grows rapidly, let's
01:31
just type civil
01:33
to see what is available.
01:36
There are a number of packages pertaining to civil 3D,
01:39
so let's take a closer look at one, the civil 3D toolkit.
01:43
We see the author name, version number, number of downloads,
01:49
and the date of the last update.
01:51
We also have the option to vote for this package.
01:54
Once you have experience working with the packages,
01:56
make sure to come back and vote as this
01:58
will let others in the community know of useful packages.
02:02
By clicking the package name, we see the version history
02:05
along with the option to install individual versions.
02:09
This is not the only way to install this package,
02:12
we can also click on the down arrow
02:14
on the top left to install the latest version
02:17
or click the down arrow next to this arrow, for the option
02:21
to download a package to a folder location.
02:24
This could be useful if you plan to distribute
02:26
this package to a larger audience,
02:27
inside your organization.
