In Revit, after you have placed pipework, you can then add pipe fittings and accessories to your new pipework.

To place a pipe for this exercise, on the Systems ribbon, in the Plumbing & Piping panel, click Pipe.

In the Type Selector, select Standard.

In the Properties palette, set the System Type to Heating Hot Water Supply.

In the Options Bar, specify the Diameter as 4".

Then, in the Options Bar or in the Properties palette, specify the Middle Elevation as 10'0".

Next, in the drawing area, click to place the beginning of your pipe,

and then move your cursor down and click to place the ending of your pipe.

Now, move your cursor to the right and click to create a horizontal segment.

Be aware that Revit then automatically adds the fittings based on the duct type routing preferences.

In this case, change the Diameter to 3", and click to create another horizontal segment down Corridor 2002.

Press ESC on the keyboard once to finish your current pipe run.

Now, on the Systems ribbon, in the Plumbing & Piping panel, click Parallel Pipes.

In the Modify | Place Parallel Pipes contextual ribbon,

set the Horizontal Number to 4, the Horizontal Offset to 0' 6", the Vertical Number to 1, and the Vertical Offset to 1' 0".

Then, hover your cursor over a pipe main and press TAB.

Click to create the parallel pipes.

After you create your parallel pipes, you can use the Trim/Extend tools to connect branches to your mains.

Keep in mind that when you change the piping system types, all the parallel pipes might also update together.

If this happens and you do not want it to, just select the piping system, and then in the ribbon, click the Remove (X) button to delete it.

Using Edit System in the Piping Systems contextual tab, you can apply different piping systems to your pipe runs.

Select a different piping system, such as Condenser Water Supply, to see the piping system change.
