00:03

There are several options for tagging elements in Revit.

00:07

In this exercise, you learn how to tag elements individually, and then create sheets.

00:12

To begin, on the Annotate ribbon, in the Tag panel, click Tag by Category.

00:19

As you start the tool, several options appear on the Options Bar.

00:23

You can set the orientation, which can be Horizontal or Vertical.

00:28

You can also click Tags to open the Loaded Tags and Symbols dialog,

00:33

which lets you select the default tags you want to use for each category or load additional tag families.

00:39

Additionally, on the Options Bar, you can choose whether or not to add a leader to the tag.

00:44

If you include a leader, you can then select whether it has an Attached End or a Free End.

00:50

If it is attached, you can specify the initial length of the leader.

00:55

To place a tag, select the element you want to attach it to.

00:60

Be aware that the Tag by Category tool automatically stays active after it is selected,

01:05

so you can continue tagging elements until you are done.

01:09

An important thing to keep in mind is that if your tag has a leader, then a leader is placed along with the tag.

01:16

If the leader has a free end, you have to click twice in order to place the tag.

01:22

The first click places the leader elbow, and the second click places the tag.

01:27

If your tag does not have a leader, the tag is placed on the element.

01:31

Now, to create a new sheet, in the Project Browser, right-click the Sheets branch and select New Sheet.

01:38

In the New Sheet dialog, select the title block you want to use, and then click OK.
