Let's zoom into the atrium at the end of the building here.
00:06
And we can see the curtain wall that needs to be modified.
00:11
If I select the curtain wall,
00:13
we can see it's the curtain wall panels type
00:16
and I'll click edit type here. So we can review its type properties
00:20
and looking at the type parameters.
00:22
I can see the vertical grid is set to a maximum spacing of 6 ft
00:27
and the horizontal grid is set to a fixed number
00:30
that we can edit on each instance of the curtain wall.
00:35
It also has mullions assigned into the type properties here which will
00:38
be applied along each grid line on the curtain wall itself.
00:43
So I click, OK to exit out here without making any changes,
00:49
we can see in the model that we have the vertical grid lines with the malls
00:53
spaced across the curtain wall at a
00:55
maximum 6 ft apart.
00:58
And looking at the instance properties,
00:59
you can see we have a horizontal grid number of two
01:02
and therefore we have two grid lines with mullions applied and three panels.
01:06
So let's change this to three.
01:08
And now we can see we have an extra row of panels with the mullions on those grid lines.
01:14
In order to customize the layout of the panels on a specific curtain wall,
01:17
we can add in extra grid lines separate to those created via the type properties.
01:23
In order to do this, we'll go to the architecture ribbon tab
01:26
and from the build panel, we'll click the curtain grid tool,
01:30
viewing the options on the place curtain grid ribbon.
01:33
We have it set to place the grid line across all segments.
01:37
Now as I move my cursor over the curtain wall
01:40
as it intersects an existing horizontal grid line,
01:43
it prompts to place a vertical grid line at that location.
01:48
And similarly, if I move to a vertical grid line,
01:51
then it will prompt to place a horizontal grid line at
01:53
that intersection across the entire width of the curtain wall.
01:58
So I'll place a horizontal grid line
02:00
just beneath the first one here that we have
02:03
and now it's placed,
02:04
I let it a temporary dimension to adjust its position to
02:07
be 12 ft from the bottom of the curtain wall.
02:11
So I'll repeat this by placing another one just beneath the grid line above.
02:15
And again, we'll adjust the temporary dimension.
02:18
So it's 12 ft above the grid line below.
02:21
I'll click modify to finish placing the curtain grids.
02:24
And now this is done,
02:25
we can see that we have the mullions applied across
02:27
those grid lines as specified in the type properties.
02:31
So now we look at how we can modify the curtain grids to give us a custom pattern.
02:36
So I'll zoom in a little bit as we need to pick the actual grid line.
02:40
And as I move my cursor over the edge of the mullion and the panel,
02:44
we can see from the tool tip and also from the status bar. Below
02:48
that, if I click, we'll select the actual curtain wall itself. So
02:52
we use the tab key on the keyboard to cycle
02:54
through the objects until the curtain grid line is highlighted.
02:58
And then we can click to select that.
03:01
Now we have the temporary dimensions back. So we could edit those.
03:05
If you wanted to move the grid line
03:07
and looking up on the modify cutting grids ribbon,
03:10
we have the add remove segments tool. So let's click that.
03:14
And now as we go over the grid line,
03:16
if we click on one of the segments,
03:18
we'll see that that segment disappears
03:21
and its associated money and is deleted and the panel is merged into one big panel.
03:27
So we can repeat this along the grid line,
03:29
clicking on the segments that we want to get rid of.
03:33
And that way the mullions will disappear
03:35
and the panels will be merged together.
03:38
If we need to reinstate one of those, simply clicking on the segment,
03:41
we'll add it back in
03:43
and also split the panels and add the money too.
03:47
So now I'll click modify to finish editing the grid line.
03:51
And if we hover over the grid line,
03:52
we can see that it's still a continuous grid line.
03:55
But with every other segment being used to create the pattern that we see,
03:60
so we can repeat this with the grid line above. So
04:02
let's select this. We may need to tab through again to highlight it.
04:06
We can see we have the pin symbol.
04:08
So this lets us know that it's come via the type properties.
04:12
But looking at the modify cut mord ribbon there,
04:14
we still have the add, remove segments. So we'll click this
04:18
and we can click on the segments to remove
04:21
and give us the offset pattern that we're looking for.
04:26
We'll repeat this once more with the grid line above. So
04:29
let's select that
04:31
and then click on the add, remove segments tool again.
04:34
And once again,
04:35
we'll click on the segments to remove to give us the
04:38
offset pattern that we're looking for in this curtain wall.
04:41
So now we'll go back to the architecture ribbon tab
04:45
and we choose to add in another curtain grid
04:48
and looking at the placement options here, we change this to one segment
04:53
and then
04:54
its panning up a little here. We can see as we go over the grid line,
04:58
it's only highlighting one segment either side of that grid line. And when we click
05:03
just the one segment will be divided,
05:05
we can also do this to a horizontal grid line as well.
05:08
So we can create some quite ornate patterns.
05:12
But now choosing, modify to finish that and selecting the grid line.
05:15
We can see it's divided across the entire curtain wall
05:19
and we could use the add, remove segments
05:21
to come and add in the segments at the
05:23
same height on different panels along that grid line.
05:30
We see as we've added those grid lines that the mullions have also been placed
05:34
because they were specified in the type properties of this curtain wall.
