Import points in Civil 3D

Import survey points from a text file into Civil 3D.

Civil 3D can import a variety of survey file formats, such as LandXML, .txt, and .csv.

In this example, you import point file data from a text file.

From the Insert tab, in the Import panel, click Points from File.

In the Import Points dialog, click the plus (+) button to find the file you want to import.

Click Open.

Under Selected Files, a green checkmark appears next to files that are formatted correctly.

The Specify Point File Format list is filtered by the file types that are potential matches for the file that you selected.

Select the correct file format and ensure that the Preview displays correctly, per your survey data.

Click OK to import the points.

Zoom to extents to view the imported point data.
