How to use the Informed Design web app to generate manufacturing outputs for product variant instances inserted into a Revit project.
Log in to the web app at informeddesign.autodesk.com using your autodesk credentials.
The web app can all be accessed with the in form design web portal button inside the product definition tool and Inventor and has products, outputs, and releases tabs.
Start with the products tab in order to select a Revit model and the variant instances that will be used to generate outputs.
In order for a Revit project to be accessible within the web app, It must first be uploaded or synchronized into a project folder on the autodesk construction cloud or BIM Docs.
Select the Revit model from the project folder in the project files browser.
Open the Revit model to view the variant instances placed in the model.
Note that any corresponding variant instances and generated outputs are only visible when the Revit model is open.
Choose a variant instance from the list, utilizing the product and selection filters to modify the roster of variant instances in the list.
You can verify that information for the selected variant instance is correct. Either by looking in the table, cycling through the preview pane.
Or selecting instances in the model viewer.
Once all the variant instances have been selected and verified, click on the generate outputs button.
Based on the output options defined in the product definition, You can choose all available or any specific output needed.
Output types include native Inventor models, two d drawings, bills of materials, and neutral model outputs.
Generated outputs can be uploaded to a location within the ACC or BIMDocks by browsing to the upload location.
Note that if the list of variant instances needs to be adjusted, one can click on the edit assignment tool, to return to the variant instant selection list.
Once all required output types have been selected, and the upload location has been specified, click on the generate button to commence the output file generation.
As the outputs are being generated, they can be filtered and selected by their status.
Note that any outputs not generated in the previous step will display as not available.
The outputs can be opened and viewed in the upload location using the ACC or BIM Docs.
In summary, the Informed Design web app is used for accessing Revit projects stored on ACC or BIMDocks.
Selecting variant instances, and generating various manufacturing output types from those instances.
Once generated, outputs can be leveraged for downstream manufacturing workflows.
