Change annotation scaling in paper space viewports

Use the annotation scaling tools while working in paper space viewports, and use the REGEN command to update the layout.

00:04

Now switch to layout one.

00:09

Here you can see that two viewpoints have been created.

00:12

Both view reports show the same geometry and annotations.

00:17

But thanks to annotation,

00:18

scaling the size and position of the annotations is unique in each viewport.

00:25

The viewport on the left shows the objects at a scale of 1 to 2.

00:29

While the viewport on the right shows them at a scale of 1 to 5.

00:34

On the status bar.

00:36

You see the annotation, visibility and annotation,

00:40

auto scale tools but not the annotation scale tool.

00:44

When working in a paper space layout,

00:47

you cannot change the annotation scale of the layout

00:51

because layouts are meant to be plotted at a scale of 1 to 1.

00:56

But you can change the annotation scale of a viewport

01:01

on the status bar.

01:03

Click the show annotation objects tool to toggle on annotation visibility.

01:09

When you do,

01:11

you can see the radial dimension in the upper right

01:14

corner of the object in the viewport on the right.

01:17

But it is quite small

01:19

because it is currently not meant to be displayed at a scale of 1 to 5.

01:24

Click this tool to toggle off the annotation. Visibility

01:29

select the viewport on the left.

01:33

When you do

01:34

in the status bar, you again see the annotation, visibility and annotation,

01:38

auto scale tools as well as a lock tool

01:42

and a tool for changing the scale of the selected viewport,

01:47

expand the viewport scale tool and choose 1 to 4.

01:53

The geometry within the viewport gets smaller

01:56

because you have reduced the scale of the viewport

01:60

and all of the annotation objects have disappeared

02:04

because none are currently set to display at a scale of 1 to 4.

02:10

Also note that although the scale label below the viewport has not changed

02:15

when you type re the shortcut for the region command and press enter

02:22

that scale label also updates

02:25

on the status bar toggle on the annotation visibility tool.

02:31

When you do, you again see annotation objects in the left viewport,

02:36

but they are at the wrong size.

02:38

When you toggle this tool on,

02:41

you see all annotation objects

02:43

including those not actually set to display at the current annotation scale

02:49

when you toggle this off so that you only

02:52

see annotations meant to be displayed at this scale.

02:56

All of the annotations in that viewport disappear,

03:01

double click inside the left viewport to make it the active viewport,

03:06

then use the roller wheel on the mouse to zoom in

03:09

when you do on the status bar, you can see that the annotation scale has changed.

03:17

When working in a paper space viewport,

03:19

you need to be careful not to accidentally change

03:22

the scale of the drawing in this way,

03:26

on the status bar, expand the annotation scale tool and choose 1 to 2

03:32

to restore the left viewport back to the proper scale.

03:37

All the annotation objects are once again visible,

03:41

regenerate the drawing again to update the scale label.
