The reveal tool is used to create components that are
00:06
hosted on a wall and cut into the wall structure.
00:11
A profile family is used to define the two D cross section
00:15
which is then extruded with the reveal tool.
00:18
As the reveal tool will cut into the wall.
00:21
It's useful for creating recessed features
00:24
such as shadow gaps and panel lines
00:27
looking at the walls at the end of the building.
00:29
These are where we replace the reveals
00:32
and to do this, we'll go to the architecture ribbon tab
00:35
and from the build panel under the wall tool, we'll choose wall reveal,
00:42
we have the reveal type chosen.
00:44
So we'll click edit type to review its properties.
00:48
We have default setback which is set to zero
00:51
and we'll leave that as is
00:52
and we can see the profile is set to default.
00:55
So we'll choose this and then from the drop down list, we'll choose the reveal brick,
00:60
course one brick.
01:03
Now we click OK to save those changes
01:05
and now we're ready to place the reveal.
01:08
I can see the preview of it. As I move my cursor over the wall,
01:12
we'll click just below the windows on floor two
01:15
and then click, modify to finish place in the reveal.
01:18
Now, if we zoom closer
01:20
and select the reveal,
01:22
we can see the shape of the profile
01:24
and it could do with being deeper into the wall.
01:27
So from the properties pallette,
01:29
we'll change the offset from wall parameter to be two inches
01:34
and this will then move it further into the wall, creating a deeper reveal.
01:40
Now, we'll align the top of the reveal to the bottom of the windows on floor two.
01:47
So to do this, we'll go to the modify ribbon tab
01:50
and from the modified panel, we'll click the align tool.
01:54
We may need to use the tab key to cycle
01:56
through the planes to select the underside of the window.
01:59
And we'll use this as the reference
02:01
and then we'll click the top of the reveal
02:04
to align it to the underside of the window.
02:10
Now we'll add the reveal onto the side walls. So
02:13
zoom it out and then selecting the reveal,
02:16
choose add, remove walls from the modify reveals, ribbon tab
02:21
and then we can select the two side walls and then that
02:24
will add the reveal into those walls and we can see it
02:27
going along at the same level for those side walls there.
02:32
Now we'll copy the reveal up to the top of the window
02:36
and it will be easier to do this in an elevation view.
02:38
So we'll open up the east elevation from the project browser
02:44
and now we can zoom into that end wall and
02:46
we can see where we've placed our first reveal.
02:49
So we'll select this
02:51
and then from the modify ribbon tab, we'll choose the copy tool
02:56
and then we'll choose the bottom of the reveal
02:58
as the base point to start copying it from.
03:02
And then we can move our cursor to the top of the window and snap to that
03:05
and then that will copy the reveal up so that the bottom
03:08
of the reveal is aligned to the top of the window.
03:13
So next, we'll pick both reveals and copy these up to the windows above.
03:17
So
03:18
using the controlled key to select both of those,
03:21
we can then select copy again from the modify ribbon tab
03:25
and then we'll click the top of the window
03:27
as the base point
03:29
and then we can move up to the windows above and select the same top line of the windows
03:35
and we'll copy those reveals to the rest of the windows there.
03:40
So that finishes placing the reveals,
03:44
we'll swap back to the 3D view
03:46
and we can now see those reveals
03:48
going through the end walls and also returning down to the side walls.
