When creating a gravity pipe network in Civil 3D, if you have not sketched the pipe design,

00:09

or if you want more control of the design as you go, you can use the Pipe Network Creation Tools.

00:15

From the Home tab, in the Create Design panel, click Pipe Network and select Pipe Network Creation Tools.

00:23

In the Create Pipe Network dialog, add the following information for this example:

00:29

Network Name: Network 2

00:31

Network parts list: [C] Storm Sewer

00:35

Surface name: Select a surface to connect to the pipe network. VO-SM

00:41

Alignment name: Select an alignment to connect to the pipe network. LONG CT

00:48

Structure label style: [C-Plan] Storm ID [0.08]

00:55

Pipe label style: [C] Storm [0.08]

00:59

Click OK.

01:01

In the Network Layout Tools dialog, select a structure and a pipe from the catalog lists:

01:07

For structure, choose the 24x24 inch Rectangular Structure

01:12

For the pipe, choose an 18 inch Concrete Pipe

01:17

Lay out your network from upstream to downstream using the Pipes and Structures command.

01:25

In the Toolspace, open the Prospector tab.

01:29

Expand Pipe Networks > Networks, and then the pipe network name.

01:35

In this example, Network 2 is selected.

01:38

This displays the structures and pipes you just created.

01:43

Use the Object Viewer if you want to look at the network in 3D.
