You can export views and sheets from Revit to multiple CAD formats,
00:07
which can then be used in programs such as AutoCAD.
00:11
You can export geometry to about a dozen file types, including DWG, DGN, DXF, IFC, OBJ, and SAT.
00:23
You can export individual views and sheets or multiple views and sheets.
00:27
To export to a CAD format, on the ribbon, click the File tab and select Export > CAD Formats.
00:35
There are multiple options here: DWG, DXF, MicroStation DGN, or ACIS (SAT).
00:44
Click DWG.
00:47
The DWG Export dialog opens.
00:51
In the Select Export Setup drop-down, select an export setup from the list.
00:55
Any export setup that was previously created is listed.
00:60
If none were previously set up, leave the in-session export setup option selected.
01:05
In the Export dropdown, the default selection is <current view/sheet only>.
01:12
You can expand the drop-down and select <in session view/sheet set>
01:17
or any custom, pre-defined sheet sets—which are useful if you plan on exporting the same views or sheets more than once.
01:25
For now, select Schematic Design.
01:28
Next, expand the Show in list drop-down and choose which views and sheets you want to see.
01:34
Here, select Sheets in the Set.
01:37
This includes all the sheets previously defined as part of the selected sheet set.
01:42
Deselect the corresponding checkbox of any sheet you do not want to include in the .dwg file.
01:48
Clicking Save Set & Close now saves your sheet sets, but no files are exported.
01:53
To export the files, click Next.
01:56
The Export CAD Formats - Save to Target Folder dialog opens.
02:01
Navigate to the folder where you want to save the files.
02:05
The name you give the CAD files is essentially a prefix.
02:09
In other words, the sheet name will follow the File name/prefix you specify.
02:14
In the Naming drop-down, select Automatic – Long (Specify prefix).
02:20
When the Export views on sheets and links as external references option is selected at the bottom of the dialog,
02:26
you create external references.
02:29
Deselecting this option puts the title block in the same file as the building model.
02:34
Click OK.
02:36
Revit begins exporting the selected sheets, which may take a while, depending on the number of sheets.
