Import and connect location points to AutoCAD linework with Point Layout

Import location points from the field and connect them to linework in your AutoCAD project using the Connect Point Group tool in Autodesk Point Layout.

When working in Autodesk Point Layout,

you can use the Connect Point Group tool to import location points from the field and connect them to AutoCAD linework.

With the project open, right-click in the model space and pick Point Layout > Import Points.

In the dialog that opens, click Select File to Import, then browse to and select the file containing the location points you want to use.

Click Open.

The list of location points updates in the dialog.

In this example, the point number XYZ descriptions are not included.

Click OK.

The project updates with the imported field point locations.

Right-click in the model space, and this time select Point Layout > Tools > Connect Pt Group.

Select the points you want to connect, then press ENTER.

A notification asks how you want to connect the points.

You can choose to connect them all, or connect them in numerical order.

Then, decide if you want to connect the points with splines, polylines, or lines.
